Fake damascus. Feels solid. Average retail dull sharpness. Nice flat hammer face. May be difficult for some to fit to handle. I used a hardwood 20" handle. Had to sand down and use epoxy as filler for handle.

This thing is HUGE. Very well made. Damascus looks AWESOME. I'm just hoping no inclusions in metal but from what I see, there shouldn't be. Since I mistakenly ordered 2, I compared them. Shape wise they are identical so prolly machine made. Damascus pattern is different though, which is to be expected. Since the axe handle section is 3/8" thick, I'll be keeping both these and putting cherry wood handles on them. Did I mention they are quite sharp too? Anyway, you won't be disappointed if you order these and affix your own handles. BTW handle section for wood is 1 1/2" x 3/4" oval area. Overall is 6 3/4" x 7 1/4"

Very cool axe head. Good quality and nice look to it. Would mainly use on a 20" handle. For anyone looking for the eye hole dimensions; 1 1/2" - 7/8"

This is a beautiful axe head. So nice it really belongs on display not muddied up and covered in pitch. I said DIY sort-of because you get to find or build the handle of your choice. That was the primary reason I bought it. There are a lot of other bearded axes avaiable but I liked the idea of "making it my own".

This product came quite early. The blade came very sharp. There are no cracks or fractures. The eye of the axe is a bit odd but is should be an easy custom build. The axe head is light and the blade is thin but not too thin. I'm very impressed with this blade and would definetly recamend.

Just recieved this Axe head yesterday,I am more than excited with the item. It is extremely well made and crafted. I went down to Home Depot to get an axe handle made of Hickory which I will need to modify a bit to fit. Where I live here in Arizone, hard woods are limited and I’m not going to spend an arm and a leg buying something that grows wild in some parts of the country that you can just pick up off the ground. The Hickory axe handle was $13.00 and will provide a more than perfect handle for the Axe head.For those of you who buy items that say the handle came apart after two swings or it broke on the first hit, test your own abilities to craft something beautiful and just purchase this immaculant axe head, go to home depot and get a great handle and make a weekend project out of it and have fun and have something you can be proud of, well half proud of Haha. Super happy with this axe. Oh yeah, as a heads up, no pun intended, the axe head comes with an edge but it is an edge you get to have fun with fine tunning.I wasn’t expecting the axe to be shave ready, so I wasn’t dissapointed in it not being razor sharp. I do sharpenning on all myu knives as well as tools and can work up a great edge on this thing myself, the point of being impressed though was the edge that was there is a great starting point and the craftsmanship put into making the axe is very impressive.

The axe blade is very well made, and is truly Damascus layered steel, I ground down and modified the blade and The back of the axe and you can clearly see the layering of the steel inside, I was worried that this was another fake Damascus steel product from China, but this blade is made by skilled Pakistan craftsmanship.
