When the valve is closed, it can lock a ball valve with a pipe diameter of 1/2" - 2 1/2" (1.3cm-6.4cm)
When the valve is open, the lockable range is 1/2" - 1-1/2" (1.3cm-3.8cm).

It is very loose and need to have lot of clearance under the handle, which could not work with the installation I work at. I am sure it will work fine for others, but in my case, our installation are very close to the wall. Our valve handle are parallel to the wall for various circumstance.

I installed this on a natural gas valve that was installed for my backup generator. I wanted to be able to lock it so that nobody accidentally opens the flow of natural gas.I found that it does not close tightly enough for the 3/4-in valve. If I give it adequate force, I am able to pry it off. I do like that the lock seems to be hard to pick, but it is also just made of plastic.I would not recommend this product.
