Mini issued a recall and a new tensioner that is slightly longer to reduce timing chain rattle common for these cars. This tensioner is the the shorter, original tensioner that is pre-recall. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this.

I bought this and installed with no problem. It was in my 2007 Mini Cooper S for just under six months (about 8K miles). I noticed my death rattle came back. I removed the tensioner and found that it was locked up. I am glad I checked it and did not keep driving. So my opinion is to spend a little more money and buy a quality part. This is a very important part and could have ended up costing me my engine.

Seemed to quiet down some of the "death rattle" I was getting on cold start up. No issues with the installation. Tighten to 45 ft/lbs.

Tension on this is not any stiffer than OEM and I could not thread it in. Do not recommend it. Was able to reinstall the OEM tensioner very easily.
