Product Description

Tips for Buying and Using a Battery Disconnect Switch:

1. Check the amperage rating before buying to know if the switch is suitable for the battery of your vehicle, boat, or RV. Different modes of transportation have different alternators that output varying power levels.

2. Always remember to turn off your vehicle before disconnecting the battery. This will prolong the lifespan of the battery, the electrical components, and the disconnect switch.

3. Avoid random power cuts or you risk damaging the locking navigation system and other anti-theft features.

4. When replacing the battery, disconnect the switch—starting with the negative terminal.

5. If you are not sure about installation, consult a professional to avoid system failure.

Easy to Install:

  1. Mark the position where the switch needs to be installed on the front of the battery panel, and open holes to fix the switch. (You can refer to the product dimension to determine the diameter of the holes. )
  2. Disconnect the negative terminal (usually black, marked with a “—” sign). Do this first to avoid the possibility of electrical short-circuiting or shock, neither of which are good for your vehicle or your body.
  3. Disconnect the positive battery terminal (usually red, and marked with a “+” sign).
  4. Just connect the switch to the battery's negative(-) post. Very easy to install

After shorting out an electronic part on my trolling motor, I decided to install a cut-off switch so when I hooked up my battery charger or worked in the battery bank compartment, there was no way that could happen again. Works exactly as I expected. Like the "dust cover" on the key. I attached a piece of lanyard to the key and to the boat just in case it vibrated out on the road.

Also bout the other unit that has the connectors. Each are connected to the trailer so I can run both, or #1 or #2.

I have (2) 100 Amp Deep Cycle Lithium LiFePO4 batteries in my RV, after seeing a few RV fires caused from shorted unfused wiring I decided it was time to install a cut-off switch. It takes some time and figuring out the best location closest to the Batteries and using heavy gauge cables that require some flexibility. Always use the negative cables with a Battery Disconnect Switch, the reason is the body and frame are Negative ground so no worries if a cable is pinched in an accident. This switch comes with two red plastic keys, locate with the key in the "ON" position because you'll want to be sure its out of harms way. The RED key will NOT remove from the socket while powered "ON" so KEEP THIS IN MIND WHEN MOUNTING.
