I was disappointed that the seller mentioned an instructional video for installation but did not provide a link to any actual video. There were no written instructions either. The tools sent were not adequate to the job. The slender handled tool was not sharp enough to open up the case. I had to use a fingernail. The guitar pick style tools were more helpful once my fingernail opened up a gap to work with. It turns out the Kindle battery was glued to the case, so the tools provided were completely inadequate for separating the battery from the case. I had to use a silicone kitchen spatula (pictured) I had in a drawer. It pried the glue apart with a lot of elbow power. Note: Do not use a metal tool. It could damage the Kindle or worse. The replacement glue strips provided did not come apart easily, especially with no instructions. The seller said any novice could do this installation. I think they underestimate the level of difficulty involved. The battery appears to be exactly like the original so that is good.

I like to keep electronics from ending up in the landfill as much as possible. My regular machine is a 12-year old Dell laptop running Linux Mint, that boots and ready to roll in 20 seconds, so i have no idea why many people have to buy new all the time. So buying and replacing my old and failing Fire HD8 battery is a continuation of that.As an old, retired guy, i have no need for ultra speed or for a gaming monster, with price tag to suit, so i am happy to extend the life of my old tablet even if there are decent offers to upgrade out there. Why add to the landfill? Not to mention that my pension is very skimpy.Replacing the battery on my Fire tablet with this one was extremely easy. The most stressful part was removing the back, as that was on there very tight and i didn't want to damage the screen. I needn't have worried, though, as it seems very strong and separated fine. After that, it's a simple case of removing the old battery, plugging in the new one, and clipping the back of the case back on again. Everything went perfectly. They give you all the tools you need to do the job, as well, so this is a great deal.I now have a "like new" tablet and the battery lasts and charges just fine. I think this is a great deal to "renew", and every little helps the environment.
