My original Nuvi 65LM battery was so bad that it almost didn't power up when connecting to my computer for updates. I decided to go with this kit because I wanted to get the correct tools and an exact instructional video on how to disassemble the Nuvi 65. The price of the kit was quite a bit more expensive than just the battery alone, but having the video and tools made replacing the battery a much easier task and worth the extra price.The original Garmin battery has an adhesive pad attached to it to stop the battery from moving around. I transferred the adhesive pad to the new battery. The new battery has an ever so slightly different size, so using the old adhesive pad helped to keep the new battery in a good position to route the cable. Take your time and observe the case movements in the video for the best disassembly and installation results.After installation I charged the battery for about 20 minutes to top it off. At this point I have no idea how long the battery will last, but right now this battery is 100% better than the original battery. If I need another battery again in the future, then I will probably buy the same brand of battery by itself for a cheaper price.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover it came with the tools needed. Helpful since I'm doing it in a hotel room. The battery is even a larger capacity going from 800 mAh to 1100 mAh. The battery in the photo is the one that came out. It was super easy. 8 screws total. I was able to do it with no instructions. Bring some life back to my GPS that I've had for probably 8-9 years, Maybe more.

The supplied tool immediately stripped out as it is of poor quality. Picked up a quality Torx screwdriver set ($5.97) which included the needed T4 which worked flawlessly while removing the screws.

The seocnd I started to unscrew, the supplied torx screwdriver stripped out. The metal was very poor quality. I could not find a Torx4 anywhere in town and had to go to my local Battery Plus store and pay them to take my GPS apart and install the battery.The battery worked fine but I would have had no way to install it with the poor quality tool supplied.

I was concerned when my Garmin Nuvi 65 internal battery showed signs of failing. Having traveled all of Route 66 with this unit, as well as many other trips, I really didn't want to part with this unit. Fortunately, I discovered this kit. What makes the kit exceptional is that the tools to make the repair are included. The available video is also helpful. Just pay attention to how the LCD display screen is reconnected. Easy once you see it. All in all, a well designed replacement kit. As a bonus, the battery is a higher capacity than the original. Now my Garmin is better than new!
