The plastic used is thin and breaks along the crank part of the reel.

I received in a timely fashion. It is manual. However, it doesn't take a lot of strength to roll the cord back up. It works well for what I need and takes the pain out of having to roll a cord up and unroll it when it is needed. Good product.

This item performs pretty well and was a good value at the sale price. The reel itself can be a bit fussy in rewinding and requires guiding the cord back or you can get jams. Otherwise, it provides a nice set of outlets and seems to be made of good quality material. This is not a fault of the product, but I wish I had purchased one that was a little longer, I've had several applications now where it turns out to be just enough short that I need to add another extension from the reel to the tool in order to work comfortably.

9107c~Thursday, April 16, 2009I've had this tool (yes that's what I use it as), for over 10 years. It's been a workhorse for me with every project that I have that requires an outlet. Use it in conjunction with a 50' or 100'er and you don't need to worry about searching for another outlet in the house (nor an outside plug for that matter). And its little trip breaker on it comes in very handy if you ever draw too much. But if you ever do trip this unit, just flip the i/o switch on your power tool, then depress the trip back in, and flip on your i/o again, and your `Good-ta-Go'!Since you simply reel in the cord, it helps to cut your Clean-up, packing, storing, whatever you want to call it, down to almost no time at all, And as far as storage goes, well this puppy takes up less room than a 50' or 100'er does (in bulk or on a reel). That, plus since it all reels up inside its own little case, there's no muss, no fuss with any extra cord, nor do you have to search for some way to tie down the end as you do with all other types. As for the bearings, well, I just hit mine with a quick shot of white grease (lithium) and its good-ta-go for another few years, w/o any coiling problems. =]
