These rods are heavy duty stainless steel and very strong except for where they screw together. It comes in three pieces and the threaded male ends are ridiculously small. They should easily be twice the size of what they are. If you aren't using steady straight down pressure, they can wobble and I'm scared I'll snap one.

I used these to find my buried septic tanks. They are heavy stainless steel and screw together. The point is very sharp and it didn't require much effort to push into the soil. Extracting with the handle was a bit of a chore but it was easy to grip. One thing I found is that the sections tend to loosen and have to be retightened. However, if you don't need to take them apart applying some red Loctite is the way to go.

Works well. It comes in three pieces that screw together but you have to make sure they are tightened up, or there will be some wobble. Pretty heavy duty, sharp tip. Handle gives you plenty of grab room to push on the rod. My back yard has a lot of roots, so I used the probe to find an area where I can push plastic solar light pegs into the ground.

Are all ground probes created equal? The answer is no.My first thought when these became available on Amazon Vine, where I receive products in exchange for my reviews, was "Skip these, I'll jut weld a piece of pipe on to a piece of rod and make my own". Then I thought about how much rod stock I might have, where it might be, drag out the welder, grinder, sharpen the point, clean off the rust, paint....so I ordered the "BBQ PLUS 2 Pack Stainless Steel Soil Probe Rod, Septic Tank Finder, Ground Probe Rod".You might guess from the brand name that these guys didn't establish themselves by making probe rods. I mean, it's not "Probe Rods Plus", so the craftsmanship is excellent.So, what you get are two 3-piece stainless steel probes. Nicely made with 12mm (just under 1/2") stainless steel solid rod with well-machined threads. Straight as an arrow when assembled. They break down to fit in a toolbox, and one section from one rod can be added to the other rod to extend the length. Nice handles with bicycle-type grips.These are not "equal to" what I would have made-they're better.A good investment at around $18 each, I'd say.

This is a great set of ground probes. Solid bars and very sturdy, I have had other sets that were just hollow pipes that easily snapped at the joints. this is by far the best probes I have used for the price.

We got a new house recently and were for the hunt for our septic tank to see if it needed maintenance. The fact it came with 2 sticks is great, as i put my wife to work also to test double the area in the same amount of time. The metal quality os goot and the tip is made to not damage if anything would be in the way. Id have prefered it double the lenght, but the affordable price was my main goal.
