The Angry Mechanic sez, If you have a problem with your cummins throwing the belt off, or cutting the ribs off the edge of the belt the tensioner is most likely why.As the 5.9 cunmins tensioner wears over time, it begins to slightly tilt over. Thus puts more force on one edge of the belt than the other, and the belt wants to walk off the pulleys as the engine runs.This part is an excellent quality and I am happy with it. No complaints.

This is a decent looking belt tensioner, especially for the price. I am always a little leery of these made in China aftermarket parts but this one looked like it could do the job well enough so I took the risk. Visual inspection of the part before installation revealed nothing concerning. This new unit does take a bit more force to spin the pulley but my previous tensioner had 100k miles on it! Other than that everything lines up and all went well with the install. The true test is how this holds up over time and my review will be adjusted over time accordingly.
