About this item

  • One bottle of Berkey Biofilm Drops treats up to 330 gallons of clean water and extends its shelf life up to 5 years, eliminating the need to rotate your stored water every 6 months.
  • Berkey Biofilm Drops are not intended to kill biological contaminants or purify water. Rather, they are scientifically engineered for use in defense against the potential growth and buildup of biofilms, which protect pathogenic microbes from disinfection by creating a slime layer that can spread inside water storage containers.
  • Simply add drops to potable water to extend the shelf life of stored water in long-term water storage tanks, jugs, and drums. Berkey Biofilm Drops can also help maintain fresher water in RV and boat drinking water tanks.
  • By helping inhibit potential biofilm growth, Berkey Biofilm Drops can help extend the life of Black Berkey Elements and other gravity-fed water filters such ceramic and carbon-block filters and may extend the time needed between filter and system cleanings.
  • Easy-to-use kit includes Berkey Biofilm Drops, copper testing solution and instructions.

The drops came in quickly. one bottle handles the 300 gallon water storage tank that I have. I change it out every three years

After about a month, water tasted and smelled like garlic. Worse, in fact. This was water originally filtered through a reverse-osmosis filter, passed through a PUR carbon filter and stored in a PUR water pitcher (actually, two of them with the same results), with probably a daily turnover in volume, unrefrigerated. I also tested the water with the included reagent, which indicated no free copper in the correct concentration, presumably indicating no antimicrobial activity from the solution. On contacting Berkey they did not seem to be familiar with their own product, and offered no reason or explanation for the failed test. This product at best does nothing, and at worst in short order imparts a horrible taste and smell to the stored water (it's mainly a weak solution of copper sulfate, used by ranchers for years to inhibit the growth of algae in horse tanks, but frankly a horse tank never smelled so bad). Unfortunately, in my haste to get rid of the mess, I didn't check for microbial growth (although the stored water also seemed slightly cloudy), so I can't say with certainty that bacterial/fungal/algal growth contributed to the odor and taste, but I'm not about to do another trial and find out. Back to ZeroWater, warts and all. I do not recommend this product for storage or purification of your water supply, or for anything else.

Awful. When I opened the box and read the instructions it said not to use if the seal was broken. Not only did this bottle not have a seal but close to half of the copper solution was used. Terrible. I will never order anything Berkey related except from the manufacturer direct. Beware if this seller.

I’m glad I got this for an emergency. It makes me feel reassured having it.

Love our Birckey, but needed something to keep the biofilm out. This works wonderfully and is pretty cost effective.

It will be awhile before I know if it is a good long term preservative for water storage, but it does a great job on the Berkeys for keeping the water fresh and keeping scale down. Found myself having to clean out the top of the Berkey at least once a week; the water would start to taste a little brackish and stale. Since using this, there's been no such problem. Each container has A LOT of product and is very long lasting. Have a new neighbor who is also a fan of the Berkey and happily uses the product for the same reason.
