I bought this lockbox for my Honda Acty to put under the passenger seat. Great idea it worked well for me and it's very durable I was actually impressed with the texture and HD gauge of steel with reinforced sides. I would recommend this to anyone that has space in the car or truck for security storage like your wallet or spare keys. I have zero locking storage in my little truck so this will work out perfectly to put my wallet and phone in if I intend to be parked for a while. This will also be a good fit for a SUV in the cargo area, I might order another one for my Honda CRV. Thanks again for a great product!

update: Bestop customer review response: If you have the fold and tumble seats, the lock box will not fit. The lock box you have can go anywhere in the Jeep also.Original: Need Torx50 and some muscle! I have a 2001 Wrangler with the 42641-01 lock box. The instructions are good, I just had to figure that I had to pull the seat forward (when you allow someone to get in and out of the back seat) to get to the back bolts. One Torx #50 and 13mm socket is all you need to free the seat, besides some muscle! For my lock box, the sliders are the ball bearings one like shown on the box. With that said, I couldn't install it due to the seat hardware getting in the way. It's either me lack of knowledge, or the vendor didn't account for the 2001 seat. I have a support email to Bestop to see if they can help, else I will have to return it. I will update this only if I find out I did something wrong.

This item is well made but it does not work in Jeep TJ’s with sliding front seats. The mechanism under the seat leaves no room to install these.

Solid, very well built under-seat secure storage for my 2004 Jeep Wrangler at a reasonable price. Has a great "quality" feel. Only reason I did not give it a five star rating is that the fit is a bit tight. As another reviewer had commented, it can interfere with the seat slider mechanism at the back of the seat. This is not a show-stopper since it does not stop the slider working but does detract from the overall product. An improvement would be if the brackets allowed the box to angle lower in towards the rear which would, I think, eliminate this issue.Tip #1: I did notice that initially the box was sitting higher than it should towards the rear, which meant it substantially interfered with the seat slider. On investigation, I saw that there was an OEM carpet fastener stud and a cable clip on the floor that caused the box to sit higher than ideal. I removed the stud from the floor (T20 Torx) and carpet, and relocated the cable clip. This made the fit significantly better.Tip #2: On my Jeep, there was a cable clip attached to the underside of the seat. I had to remove and relocate that to allow the box to slide under the seat.Aside from those two issues, it was easy to fit. Even with figuring out what was going on, I was done in around 45 mins.Sep 1, 2017 Update:I upgraded my rating to 5 stars based on two factors:1. Customer Service is excellent. I lost a key and needed a replacement - The Bestop Customer Support team were fast to respond and were happy to send out a new key.2. The tight fit described in my original review has not really turned out to be an issue. Although the box does slightly interfere with the seat rails, it has not impacted my ability to adjust the seat. Especially considering how seldom you need to adjust the seat.

I purchased this to install into my 2002 Jeep TJ Sahara. My drivers side seat is not the tilt and fold type but my passenger seat is. I had no issues getting this product installed under my drivers seat. I had read reviews prior and noted most people complained about not being able to easily adjust the seat forward with this box installed so as a precaution I added a couple of washers to the front seat bolts to raise the seat up and allow more clearance. Getting the seat bolts back in is harder than without the box because there is much less room but with a 3/8 or 1/4 drive socket and a U joint adapter and an extension it is a quick job. I was really unsure if I should get the bestop box or the tuffy which is twice the price. I decided to get this bestop one and am very happy with my choice. The lockbox is well made and the locking mechanism seems durable enough. I will be primarily using this for a 5" 1911 handgun and extra magazines and have no problem with fitment as shown in the photo's I uploaded.I do kind of wish there was a way I could leave it unlocked yet open-able with some sort of catch but for my uses it will be storage only so I do not need to have quick access to the drawer.I have not noticed any rattle from the box while driving. I always have the hard top on the jeep and on the highway it is really much quieter inside than the average jeep and to date no rattle. The drawer is remove-able by opening it and moving the plastic tabs on the drawer slides to allow it to come out if needed.I should also add that yes it does interfere with the seat sliding forward and back freely. With the washers I added in it is not very difficult but definitely takes more effort than before. Very happy with how hidden it is. I keep my seat adjusted all the way back and it is really not visible except when the drivers door is open and you are looking in that area.
