My 3 year old daughter LOVES these.... I remember playing with similar dolls when I was a child. Its simplicity makes for a great toy! Good quality.. the smallest one was hard to open at first but now it opens fine. Bright cheerful colors. Sweet faces painted on dolls. This is actually my second time ordering we lost a few peices was worth ordering again cause she loves them so much.

These dolls are exactly what I expected to get for $12, as a matter of fact I was pleasantly surprised! It amazes me how many people will find the cheapest thing they can then complain about the quality, pay more money if you are that picky. These are very nice wooden dolls from Russia that I paid only $12.00 for, my kids LOVE them and play with them regularly. They have the traditional look and are very cute, there are no issues with the paint and are well made considering the price.

I ordered this for my five year old granddaughter for Easter. She doesn't like candy, especially chocolate which makes me wonder where I went wrong, so I always look for something different to put in a basket for her. This doll was exactly what I was looking for. There was saw dust in the dolls but I just used some furniture polish and a dust cloth and removed the excess dust. The last two dolls are a little tight and difficult to open but I did a light sanding and now they open without any problem. The colors are bright and the little faces are so sweet! The smallest doll is very tiny so I probably wouldn't give this to a child any younger than five or to one that puts things in their mouth because it could be a choking hazard. The paint is smooth and glossy and there were no chips or bubbles in the paint on any of the dolls. I like these so well I may order another set for myself!

The nesting dolls are darling, and of good quality for the price. I'm a teacher, and purchased these dolls for use in my classroom. They have been handled daily by more than five students, ages three to six, and after a month of use they still look perfect. Even now, the dolls continue to be a very popular item in our classroom. The four stars is because, for the first few weeks, a couple of the dolls were almost too tight to open, and squeeked loudly when they finally were opened. However, after much use, the wood has eventually loosened enough that the squeaking noise has gone away, and the dolls can now be opened by my young students with reasonable ease.

These are the sweetest little Matryoska dolls. They're made out of wood and hand-painted. My youngest (6 years old) got these for Christmas along with the book, "The Littlest Matryoska." She adores them. She loves to take them apart and renest them. She's also invented games where she tries to "trick" me in that she couldn't possibly fit more dolls inside a doll. These are such a great price for such a high quality product. Highly recommend!!! (TIP: Buy a book to go with it. "The Littlest Matrysoka" is a really sweet story with lovely illustrations.)

I concur with another reviewer who said there was wood dust everywhere upon opening the package. Also, one of the inner dolls is a bit loose upon opening and closing (not a nice secure closure), and some of the dolls fit into one another a bit too snugly. That being said, I dusted the dolls off thoroughly and they look quite cute now, no splinters or anything sticking out anywhere...they could probably have been sanded a bit more smoothly on the inside but they're not a hazard, just a rougher feel inside than you might expect. And the dolls aren't so snug together that it's a big problem, if I place them inside one another gently instead of pushing them in it seems to work fine. It's just that one loose doll that's most disappointing (if you hold her from the top, her bottom part tends to just fall off). Also, other reviewers mentioned finding a Russian coin tucked in their dolls. I found no such thing, maybe this is a different seller...definitely made in Russia though, as there is a sticker on bottom with Russian text printed on it.I will say that I was very happy to get a doll that was yellow on top and red on bottom, since I got this to go with the book "The Littlest Matryoshka" for my five year old nieces, and they look similar in the book. I plan to have them read the book, and then go hunting for the dolls I will have hidden around the room, to "reunite the sisters" as in the book. Should be a fun Christmas experience! I doubt they will mind the small flaws too much!Update: They LOVED it!

my sons were so excited to get their nesting dolls. my husband has one that he got in russia and we were hesitant to let them play w his all the time because of the sentimental value, so now the kids have their own. the love opening them all, setting out the different sizes, making little voices for them and having the "baby" hide inside the "mommy" because "it's raining! oh no!" etc etc.my only complaint would be that one was a little hard to open (ok very hard to open!) but after i finally was able to open it i opened and closed it a bunch of times to "break it in" and that did the trick.the quality is good, the dolls are beautiful, and one special thing is that there seems to be more of them than there are w the one my husband has - it goes from much tinier to much bigger.
