About this item

  • COMPATIBILITY: This chain checker is designed to accurately measure when the chain reaches a .75% or 1.0% stretch and decide the necessity of chain replacement. Compatible with 7 to 12 Speed Chains including for Shimano Sram Campagnolo KMC and other brands.
  • EASY OPERATION: Simply place the checker onto a segment of the chain then see whether the chain checker lies completely flat on the chain. If so, replace the chain. However, the chain is still good to use if the chain checker sticks upright at the 0.75% end.
  • PRO QUALITY AND COMPACT: This precision laser-cut tool is well built and constructed with pro-quality material, forethought, and care for longevity and is easy to store. If you are still looking for a chain checker, this 2-in-1 chain wear indicator tool will satisfy your need and is undoubtedly the right choice for you! Length: 140mm/5.51inches. Weight: 32.8g/0.07lbs.
  • WHY YOU SHOULD GO FOR IT: As a consequence of the chain wear, increased wear of expensive rear cogs and chainrings will eventually appear. Works as advertised. I would have preferred that it measured .5 and .75 instead of 1.0 and .75. But I knew that when I ordered it.

A quick and easy way to check condition of your chain. My equipment was worse than I thought it would be. Replaced with a new chain made the bike feel new again. Replacing chain at the right time will increase the life of you cogs and chainrings.

Quick and easy to use and seems accurate when comparing to Park Tools adjustable wear gauge. Good investment to save money on drivetrain components. Get a new chain when it's needed, and not too soon.

Simple tool for measuring the wear on any bicycle chain. Very easy to use. Helps you to keep track of how much wear is on the chain so you will replace the chain before it causes damage to the gears.

This is a simple tool that can fit between the rollers of a bicycle chain. There are two orientations. If the .75mm orientation fits through the chain is worn enough to warrant replacement. If the 1.0mm orientation fits through then it is extremely worn and warrants further component replacement. If it does not fit in either orientation then the chain is ok. I feel more confident using this tool than my Park CC1.The price is right, should last years.I would recommend it to a friend.

I do agree that it would be nice if it had instructions. I had to ask a friend, although you can find descriptions for similar tools on the internet. The jist is this, place the notch over a link and see if the pick head will fit comfortably between the links it contacts. If your chain is worn, then point of the head will slide down in easily. If your chain is not worn, then it won't.There's two different measurements 0.75 and 1.0 (presumably 0.75% and 1% chain stretch). You'll want to replace your chain when it stretches to between those two percentages. If you can get the 0.75 in, but not the 1.0, then you should start thinking about changing your chain. If the 1.0 fits comfortably in, then its definitely time to change your chain, and possibly your cassette, as heavier chain wear causes heavier cassette wear.Having said all that, the gauges is well made and adequate, at about half the price of the big name indicator, which makes it a good buy.
