AQUAPAPA Sponge filter for tank 30 - 60 gallon

How it functions:

Sponge filter is an efficient and excellent method of filtration for your fish tank. This sponge filter works with an external air pump or an integral water pump.

The air pump pushes air into the hollow cavity inside the sponge filter thru the tubing, and bubbles rise from the toplift tube thus drawing water thru the sponge walls. It provides mechanical and bio filtration for your tank.

Easy maintenance:

Scoop some old tank water out of your tank into a bucket; wash the sponge in the water and squeeze out the buildup until it's clean. Sponge needs to be cleaned every month. It's recommended to change out 25-30% of the water weekly.

Work as they should, after a few months you may notice the bubbles not blowing nearly as hard. In the base, the very bottom there are vents that get clogged. A pin or toothpick will clean those out and you will get the bubbles back to normal. Usually about 6 months before they will clog. Happy with these.

Sponge filters are happening..... honestly don't know why I took so long to switch. These are amazing but make sure to select the right size for your tanks. Oh these work wonders on your pond also.

I have a 60 gallon tank with fancy goldfish in it, and these are wonderful. I put two inside my tank, HOB filter on back, with a dual air pump and two air stones to help dampen the noise, and they're perfect. They help circulate oxygen, which the fancies love, and they are another place for good bacteria to cultivate in the tank. Clean them every few months and you're golden. Highly recommend, especially with high bioload tanks or tanks you want to breed babies in, as they cannot get sucked into the sponge filters.
