i am really pleased with the BIQU H2. i was worried when i ordered it do to older reviews but do to it being a direct drive. i thought i give it a go. i am coming from a spider 3.0 hotend and it was hell to have. as soon as i installed this new drive it worked right off the bat. its fast and easy to run and takes away from all the other stress when calibrating the printer.cons you have to print your own bracket. and parts or hard to find. can not find a temp nozzle nowhere. and i tinted mine up to much and gives off bad readings. 500c temp thermostat should be sold by them as replacement parts but they do not have it. ? other then that. this thing is sweet

After years of 3d printing with my biqu B1 I decided to replace the printing head. This OEM part retrofits well to the printer and preforms as needed.

So I went into this figuring i could add the 500c Biqu H2 to my existing Ender 3, and have some significantly increased temperature options. In short, this guy by itself didn't let me do that, and honestly, has a fairly tough time being used with more "Mundane" components. The reasoning is actually obvious when you actually read over the material, which i didn't do a good enough job of - The Thermistor needs special attention, and an extra slot on your control board. This isn't a big deal if you have one of the bigtree third party boards or something similar, but if you have a standard control board, be aware that you're going to need a one of those to go along with this extruder. In addition, the heating block's slot for that 500c thermistor is not a standard size - The one used is a 4mm diameter probe, where the "normal" Thermistors use a 3mm probe. This means that you can't use a standard probe in this guy either - you're stuck to either buying an entirely new board, or replacing the heat block entirely. I ended up having to use the old heating block, screwed onto the bottom of the B2's heat break to get a working machine.Other than that, the thing seems to be pretty solidly made, and is indeed very small for a direct drive hot end+extruder. If i was doing it again, I'd buy the standard variant, and see if i could get an all metal throat for it instead of going for the 500c model. That would allow me to hit all my ABS and nylon needs without replacing half the machine.

Excellent little extruder, I have one on an Ender 6 and a X5SA, both Core XY and this thing is perfect, no complaints. This thing is small, light and compact and ideal for converting bowden to direct drive.Yes it clicks during retraction but its not noisy, people relatively new to 3d printing are too used to silent boards and quiet printers. It's a mechanical machine people, it's gonna make some noise.

i have now used this for around 3 months, and it works like a charm, and compared to all the problems the H2 V1 had, then i would say, this is how it should have been in the first place. The good:- Extrusion is always consistant, so my print have not had any artifacts on my prints, not even under extrusion.- The extruder has a lot of torque, compared to my old extruder ( a cnc aluminium mk8 type extruder).- the mounting holes all around the H2 extruder body, makes it very easy to install, or install parts on it, like i did.- the new placement of the screws holding the heatbreake in place is a welcome additon, even tho i havent had any reason to remove it.The bad:- The metal gears can be a bit noisy with fast retractions, but thats just how metal gears are by nature, when they are not submerched in oil like a gearbox.- You can not adjust the tension of the arm, i have yet not found this to be a problem, but this could be a problem for someone wanting to print in flexibles.Over all, for such a tiny direct extruder, thee Biqu H2 V2 is a great option, from what i have experienced so far.

Update: 1 year laterI see quite a few negative reviews of the BIQU H2 V2S (not the Lite version). After about 20kg of various PLAs my unit is still functioning well. The gears aren't worn. It still grips the filament as it should. What's changed since my original review?- Second Z-axis lead screw + stepper- Switched from Marlin to KlipperStill a 5 star product. Clearly, your mileage may vary. For me, I'm glad I bought it.Original review:My Ender 3 printers are almost stock. The only things I've upgraded I printed myself. Namely, I printed a better spool holder, and a filament guide. I also use glass or FR4 as my print surface. The Ender 3 (original) has performed nearly flawlessly for a few years. So why did I buy this upgrade? I have had 4 particularly annoying spools of PLA. About every 3 feet the filament would snap - it was oddly brittle in those places. The Bowden extruder didn't help matters. That's it. That's the whole reason for the upgrade. I just got annoyed having to dislodge the piece of filament in the Bowden tube, and feed it back in again.I had to pick a direct drive because I want to have as little fuss reloading filament as possible. The H2 weighs only 216g, which was important because I wanted to drift as little from the original extruder setup as possible. Direct drive extruders are, by nature, heavier. All I had to do was print a mounting plate and a new part cooling duct and wire it all in.I've seen a lot of reviews about this particular extruder that go all crazy about balance and instability because there are only two screws holding it on the mounting plate. For my installation these criticisms seem to be conjecture, and unfounded. The H2 extruder performs perfectly fine after tuning your settings (more on that later). There is also criticism about the gears, the bearings, the metal used, and on and on. All I can say is, it works as advertised. I can attest to it functioning well. Maybe those armchair metallurgists are right and this thing will wear out after a while. For now, it works.About those settings. I use Ultimaker Cura as my slicer. If you're going from the Bowden extruder to this direct drive extruder, you're going to want to change a couple of settings.Outside of Cura, you're going to have to update the extruder steps/mm. From the LCD:Configuration -> Advanced Settings -> Steps/mmFor this extruder, it's 932 steps/mm.Don't forget to save the settings from the LCD - under the Configuration menu.In Cura, Under "Travel" (see attached image):Enable Retraction - checkedRetraction Distance - 0.5Retraction Speed - 5.0+ Retraction Retract Speed - 5.0+ Retraction Prime Speed - 5.0Minimum Extrusion Distance Window - 1.0

Ordered this hotend to replace the one on my Biqu B1 printer. This hotend arrived 100% fully assembled, along with the UBS-C cable, a bowden tube, the daughter board for the hotend connections, and the pneumatic coupling, as well as the screws needed to attach it to the X-gantry.I just screwed it in and plugged in, and I was printing within 5 minutes of unboxing.Plug 'n Play!No issues whatsoever.

After spending 3 months up and down with this extruder on my Ender-6 I decided to throw it to garbage and buy something proper like bondtech. This extruder so badly made that the motor is not aligned with gears and causing a grinding sound while retracting. The second issue I have is filament get stuck in the nozzle and forcing me to disassemble the whole thing. Overall I only had like 5 hours of print and wasted days of repairing this extruder.Avoid this extruder at any cost if you don't want headache and go for something else.
