This is a neat little iron for small soldering jobs. Build quality is pretty decent, with a plastic housing aside the metal soldering tip. Controls are dead simple and easy to use. I enjoy the temperature gauge on the side, which lets me keep track of how hot the iron is. Battery life is good what what I've used. I've never had it die on me mid soldering session. In terms of performance, it does pretty well. The tip is on the smaller side, but it heats up fast and melts solder easily. I've been using it for small projects over the past couple weeks and have had zero issues. Highly recommend!

The construct and quality seem to be really good. Easy to use and battery life was more than what I expected.

This little wireless soldering pen is pretty handy. Forget wrestling with cords, you can just grab it and go. Perfect for those quick jobs around the house, and I hate dealing with cords so this is great. It heats up fast, melts solder just fine, and the battery lasts through my usual small jobs. The buttons take a bit of getting used to, and do keep the instructions, but honestly, it's a solid tool. If you're tired of dragging out the big soldering station for little things and dealing with a power cord, this is definitely worth a look.

I have always found soldering awkward. This iron makes things quite a bit easier. Not having a power cable really helps. Actually, most (plug-in) irons have TWO power cables, one from the wall to the base, one from the base to the iron. Having a simple, comfortable to hold tool, with no cord in the way just makes everything a little bit less awkward ...Also, note the shape of the iron. The exposed tip is much shorter than in most irons, meaning you can hold the iron in a number of different ways (closer to the end, if needed), rather than having a handle and three inches of exposed metal (that can burn you) between your hand and the thing you are working on.This "magic" is enabled by the C210 type soldering iron tips. These tips plug directly in (no screwing), and have THREE terminals, rather than the standard two - the third terminal is for the temperature sensor, which is built into the TIP itself, allowing for good thermal regulation, without all the thermal mass of a standard iron. One key tip - when soldering, I always use a low temperature solder. Low-temperature solders use the element Bismuth (along Tin and some Sliver), and have a lower melting point than even lead based solder. I made this switch years ago, and never looked back.It is surprising to me low-temp solders are not more common. (For instance, Amazon does not current sell low-temp wire solder.) ChipQuick is the brand I am familiar with, search "Sn42/Bi57/Ag1 Water-Washable Flux Core Solder Wire" (available in a number of sizes). This solder melt at 138 C, and I use an iron temperature of 300 C, rather than the default 350 C. (It's easy to adjust the temperature, and the iron remembers the new temperature when powering back on.)Low-temperature solder, along with the "thermometer in the tip" design, make up for the fact that this iron is only rated at 12-Watts. You can see the real-time temperature on the handle ... it is quite stable during use.One note, this iron is smaller and shaped differently than other irons, and does not fit will in standard bases. This is not a big deal, and the included stand (with sponge) works fine.High recommended!

For years, I’ve been casually looking for a portable soldering iron to replace my ancient butane one. If you’ve used one, you know why. I saw all manner of battery-powered irons come and go over the years but never pulled the trigger on one (for reasons beyond the scope of this review). A few days ago, I was offered this one for review. I decided to accept when I saw (thanks to another reviewer) that it’s powered by an easily removable 18650 cell. It can also be powered by a USB power supply of adequate wattage, which is pretty handy.I had some misgivings about the small size of the iron’s tip. There’s not a lot of thermal mass there but this may work to its advantage, as it'll heat and recover faster. It’s pretty sharp and the contacts inside the iron are tight so you’ll probably want to use smooth-jawed pliers to insert and remove it the first few times. If you're looking for different tips, these work: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DLNRWGCVMy testing apparatus wasn’t ideal but the temperature of the iron (or, rather, the temperature inside a melted blob of solder on the tip of the iron) was a bit lower than the temperature on the display. There’s a function to calibrate it (which I’ll probably do later) but my temporary solution was to simply increase the temperature to “375°C” and get to work. I found that it heats (and, more importantly, comes back up to temperature) very quickly. Even more importantly, it maintains temperature well. Its performance on internal battery power is more than sufficient to tin small wires. I’m sure it would do well on through-hole components with regular pads. It struggled a bit with the male pins of an XLR cable but the joints are more than passable in a field repair context. These are the things I need an iron of this type to do, so I’m quite pleased. What really makes it a keeper is how lightweight and well balanced it is. I cannot overstate how nicely this thing handles. The ‘grip to tip’ length is far less awkward than a full-sized iron. The convenience of not having to drag the soldering station off the shelf for small projects or repairs is going to be great, too. Whether you’re looking for a first soldering iron or just want something to put in your gear bag for emergency repairs, I’m sure you could do a lot worse than this. This would be a five-star product if not for the imperfect fit and finish. My major complaint to wit is that the removable half of the clamshell was slightly undershot and this makes it a little fiddly to reinstall. Not that replacement of the internal battery would be a common occurrence. Just that it could be better. It’s still perfectly functional and this may just be an issue with the unit I received. Still highly recommended. Thanks, Amazon!
