I had mixed experiences with the key lock. I was impressed by its design, especially the hidden cover and the inclusion of all necessary tools, was well-thought-out on the product. However, the issue with selecting the codeβparticularly the stripping of the key # code and the restriction on using the same number to be usedβwhich was a significant drawback. This led to your decision to return the item.

I bought this because I have a lock with a keypad and wanted to have a key hidden in case the keypad dies or malfunctions. This has worked out great. It was so easy to set the code. I cannot speak to the weatherproof portion because it is under cover where I have it. The only complaint I have is that the code does not have a specific order, you just select the numbers. This is not a big deal by any means, just something to keep in mind.

After watching the Lock Picking Lawyer on YT open the rolling wheel one in about 5 seconds, I opted for this push button version. The biggest safety feature is keeping this out of sight (not an option for me, so the black on black camouflage will have to do). Next is to securely anchor this to wood (or steel in my case), so someone cannot rip it off and take it to a machine shop to open it up remotely. Lastly, you can choose as many buttons as you want, so I'd stay way from four. I like that you have 0-9 and # and * to choose from. Hit a wrong number and it won't open. Must hit "C" to start again. Like that it auto locks when you close it and you have to hit "C" again before putting in the numbers. As others have said, sequence doesn't matter. The screwdriver they give you isn't sized right. I used a precision set, and turning the setting screws was much easier and less likely to strip. I'm only using this for a pet sitter, and will change the code and take the keys out afterwards. I think I could probably get this open with some power tools (probably an angle grinder and reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade), but at that point it would just be easier to get a ladder and smash a window.

Easy to set up, though know that your chosen combination in any order will open the box. You can choose enough numbers and characters to make accidental combos preventable. The box has a nice, easy to use weatherproof cover and the inside of the box has a hook to hang your key on. I like that I can easily reach in to grab the key.

We bought this for my mom so the medical alert company that she uses can access her house. It is very sturdy and a roomy inside for keys. Push button makes it much easier to put the code in.

The key lock box comes with a screwdriver for setting the code. The product is so cheaply made that the screwdriver cannot turn the slot so you cannot set a code. Junk
