LM386N Characteristics:
The LM386 is a power amplifier IC designed for low loss power supplies.
To minimize peripheral components, the voltage gain is built into 20.
However, by adding an external resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8,
you can adjust the voltage gain to any value up to 200. The input is referenced
to ground and the output is automatically biased to half the supply voltage.
At 6V supply voltage, its static power consumption is only 24mW,
making the LM386 ideal for battery-powered applications.
LM386 is widely used in recorders and radios.

This IC is a small audio amplifier for homebuilt projects. I purchased this batch because I needed one to replace an LM386 I “blew up” in a Morse Code code practice oscillator. After replacement, it worked as good as new.

Four items of the product did not operate at all and 4 of them blew out as soon as circuit was powered, 2 of them did not operate even at optimal capacity of 200 gain. Reconstructed and rechecked connections of the new build with same result with the remaining two.

The product looks to be kosher. I haven't got a chance to test yet but after I test I will add to the review. Very nice looking product.

Poor quality batch - eight out of the ten ICs were defective. Fortunately I only needed one to work for my circuit. It wasn't worth the hassle to return them, but I won't be ordering again from this supplier.
