I was surprised to find it on Amazon, after checking all the hardware stores near my house and seeing the price they charged for it I was hopeless that I would be able to buy one just to drill a whole in the wall, then I checked Amazon and I found the same brand and same size for a fraction of the price in store, so far I have used it to drill bricks and wood and it still working as a brand new one. Really strong and superior quality! I definitely would buy other sizes from bosh if I need it in the future!

Ever tried drilling a hole though something thick, then realized you need to drill it from the other side to get the two sides to match? Well, it never happens, unless you have a vise while drilling, you are likely drilling at a slight angle, which quickly has an impact over a long distance.Enter this bit: you can just drill through the gap to the other side and see where you end up. I was concerned that it would be fragile and potentially break, and then I accidently started bending the bit while trying to pull it out and made it curve a good 30 degrees with no issue and the bit was fine after. The bit itself is still straight, and seems no worse for the wear.Only a small part of the front actually has channels for moving sawdust from the drill point, but it always seems to be enough and the bit has never jammed, as least in my use cases. This bit has saved me a lot of time over multiple projects and was definitely worth the price. The only thing to keep in mind is that the longer the bit, the thicker bit I would recommend you getting, though with how well this bit is surviving, don't overestimate how thick of a bit you need for your job.

I need to lag together railroad ties for a project. The ties are in good shape, about 200 pounds each, so good dense wood.I am using 1/2" x 12" Spax lags and they call for a .200" pilot hole. I figure 3/16" being .186 is close enough, the wobble in my chuck will make up for the 2 hundreths, haha.Anyways, drilling a 3/16" hole nearly 12 inches long is not a super easy thing to do. I couldn't find any other bits out there except this one.So far I've just drilled several holes to check it out, and it does a great job drilling a clean straight hole right through the ties. I use the black oxide bits for drilling metal all the time, so I expect these will hold up fine unless I hit a rock. But at $5 each I can afford a few spares.
