Product Description

The BOSCH line of metal drill bits offers a solution for every professional application. Each bit is manufactured to exacting specifications and features a split point that starts on contact with no walking or skating, eliminating the need for a center punch. BOSCH black oxide bits offer superior durability, speed and selection to support most general-purpose applications.

From the Manufacturer

Bosch DareDevil Spade Bits offer the industry's leading performance over any other spade bit available today. The DareDevil was designed to answer the needs of professional users in terms of speed, ease of use and hole quality. The DareDevil is the fastest spade bit in the industry, provides smooth and effortless drilling, and produces the cleanest hole. A first for Spades, the full cone threaded tip provides the speed needed to drill faster and it pulls the bit through the material with less effort and vibration than other spade bits.

I bought this set for general use. I like the set up for the quick change adaptor. Bits are sharp and work well.

These are actually really nice drill bits. I used them to install security cameras around the house. Used these to make a hole for the cables behind the camera. Predrill a hole with a regular drill bit before using these. The tip is not made to start a new hole, its made to grip into a predrilled hole. Once it grabs though hang on tight cause these things sink right in. very sharp no chip out at all, Wish they came with some sort of carrying case or something but cant argue with the price.

These spade bits are worth every dollar spent. There is something important to note however. They are quite a bit more aggressive when compared to your normal spade bits. Be sure your drill has enough power to run the larger diameter bits. Also, do not assume that just because they are awesome that if you hit a nail(s) it will be no big deal because I promise you, if you do, the bits will go from amazing to junk real quick. One final issue I had with the 1 1/4 bit was that the shaft bent for some reason. It could have been a dud though.

For the money these bits are good value. I use them with an electrical hand drill, mainly in 2" hardwood and softwood, making holes, mainly for electrical cables. Providing you do not hit any nails or metal they stay sharp for a long time. The bits I have used most are those between 3/4" and 1/2" and have found that their performance has not dropped off greatly after much use (unless you hit a nail, whereapon they are not much good thereafter!). They do grap into the wood and drill very agressively so they are not intended for "fine" work. You often have to use the reverse function on the drill to remove them from the cut hole.

For me this has been a very good and useful set of Spade Bits. I use these around the house and barns and in crafting my bird houses and canes. So far I have had not one problem. Now it should be noted that I have used them only on soft woods and not hard. I note that some reviewers have had a problem with hard woods...I cannot speak to that problem. I also not that there may (or may not) have been some problems with the extension on this set. I have used mine several times (On pine) and have had not problems what so every. The bits are sharp and cut very cleanly. They of course should be used on WOOD ONLY as that is what they are made for. I have used this brand of bit before ad as yet to have had a problem....with the bit itself I should say. I did use one on a drill with poor torque which did not work out so well. That was my fault though...I should have known better. All in all I have no complaints against these bits. The price here on Amazon is quite competative as to what I find locally.Don BlankenshipThe Ozarks

I used the set with a Bosch HDH-181 Brute Tough Hammer Drill/Driver to run cable in a house under construction.Even the largest bits go through sandwiched studs like butter. All you do is put the self feeding tip onto the wood and without any pressure and as soon as you pull the trigger the bit bites and pulls itself through the wood in an incredibly fast pace. (As always, use an auxiliary handle for applications like this!)The hole is fairly clean, but I would say there are spade bits out there that make cleaner holes but certainly not faster ones. This is ideal for non finish holes like in studs, rafters, plywood, joists and so on.I'm amazed by the speed and ease of how those bits are working. It is still to see how long they will stay that sharp. So far they haven't let me down. The 6" extender is certainly a bonus, however, I haven't put that one to use yet.The only con I would say is they come not with a box or anything, but for the price and quality that is certainly something I can overlook.
