This snap shackle is a well-made device, yet has a potential problem that may affect your safety.I noticed that the cotter ring, which is responsible for keeping the primary latching mechanism together, was working its way off the central pin. I realized that the hole in the pin, through which the cotter ring resides, is only large enough for the diameter of the ring wire. Most rigging pins that are secured by cotter rings have a hole large enough for the entire ring to rotate within it, preventing the ring from working itself off.My cotter ring was starting to work itself off the pin. This should not be possible in a good design. In the unlikely event that the ring were able to rotate out of the pin, the entire mechanism comes apart and you will lose the attachment the snap shackle provides. If your personal safety relies on this device, I suggest you secure the ring somehow so it can't work itself off the pin, or replace it with a small cotter key that you know cannot work itself off the pin. Please view my photos showing the issue. All in all, this is really good hardware. Still, I recommend that you look closely at a potential flaw that can affect your safety.

I like this lanyard so far. The action smoothly opens the clip releasing it. The rivot is nicely done. My ONLY Complaint is that the leather is to thin.
