A others have mentioned, needle valves are terrible and are prone to leaks. This product delivers a proper 90 degree shutoff that feels sturdy and should last. FYI, the valve can be opened in either direction, but shutoff remains at the 90 degree position.

After needle valves that don't really stop the water, and advertised 1/4" ball valves that turn out to be for 1/4" ID copper line (won't fit OD), a valve that's smooth, installed in 2 minutes, and just works! Note to installers: the compression nuts are 13 mm and a tubing wrench is the sensible mechanical way to go.

It's small outside diameter is good for small spaces like behind a refrigerator.Installation is simple and shutoff is tight. Good quality.

While this valve works with copper or nylon tubing it does not come with the copper insert or the nylon sleeve designed for plastic tubing. The supplied copper compression sleeve will work as well but not without the insert. On plastic tubing using the nylon compression sleeve turn the compression nut no more than one full turn with a wrench.

I have and use a 100 foot air hose in my garage. When I want to change out the air hose or move hoses around, I wanted a way to turn off air to the hose to let the air out in a controlled manner instead of disconnecting and having all the air rush out at once. This works great for attaching just before the coupler on my air tank and because I keep air in my tank all the time, this works great to make sure my hoses aren't always under pressure and or leaking from couplers or tools.
