Worked perfect! Creates about 2.5” complete plugs and is very well builtAssembly is pretty easy but I recommend loading the axle with wheel bearing grease during assembly to make things easierBut as an aerator it works very well! I towed it behind my 9 hp John Deere SRX75 with no issues at allMake sure you wet down the area you’re aerating first or do this after it rains and you’ll get very nice plugsAssembly takes a while but it’s well worth it

This year is the year I decided to break away from TruGreen and the like. I am tired of paying someone else to take care of my lawn. Not only do they often times not show up, it just feels like money wasted. Aeration and over seeding is easily $350 for my just shy of .5 Acre yard so I figured if I get at least two or three uses out of it, including the cost of seed, I will come out ahead. The seasons are changing, the nights are cool, and the grass is wet in the morning so I figured it was time to assemble this guy.Assembly was pretty much what you'd expect, I found the directions to be well written and easily understandable. My kit came with WAY to many parts - I thought I missed a step or two but after reviewing all steps again, it was clear they just plain put too many nuts/bolts/washers in the box. I guess better too may than not enough. All the spares went into the spare parts bin for the next project. The spoons (for lack of better term? ) are fairly annoying to assemble. I struggled with the first two or three until I found a system and the best way to position my tools so I can hold on to everything and apply the appropriate torque. Once I got the positioning right, the rest came on with ease but were still tedious. The whole assembly took me 2.5 hours max and that was with the wife yelling at me to come in for dinner! This thing hooked up to my riding mower without issues and I was able to aerate my lawn without any trouble. I even found time to run over the neighbors lawn without issue. For weight I put a big heavy chain I had in the garage and a couple bags of top soil I had. I don't think I had enough weight but I still got 2" - 3" of penetration and the lawn cores are clearly visible on my lawn. Next year I will buy cement blocks and apply the appropriate weight to ensure a more even use of the tool.Afterwards I spayed it down with the hose to remove any dirt for storage and found no visible damage, everything still looks new. Color me impressed! I plan on running this again in the spring and after that unless something is wrong with the unit that I cannot see, it should be the same results as this time. Very happy with the purchase and feel its a good value for the money spent.

We received our aerator yesterday. When reading other reviews before buying we noticed some complaints about assembly difficulties and so we were a little nervous about the assembly process. For assembly we simply unpacked the unit and carefully laid the pieces out for assembly. The instructions were written for two different size aerators, which was a little confusing. We had to call support for clarification of what might have been missing parts. The support team was prompt, courteous and very helpful in identifying the fact that our aerator did not include the piece in question because the smaller 40" size, this confusion could have been simply avoided by having the instructions ONLY for this unit instead of multiple units. This aerator can be assembled with everyday hand tools, but we used an electric driver where possible to speed up the assembly. Instead of using concrete blocks for weight, we used a Sterlite plastic tote filled with water, it was easy to adjust the weight and fit the tray perfectly (we have no extra storage space for random concrete blocks). Make sure when attaching the plug cutting tines to their assembly that you make note of where the welds on the tube fall. Place the tines on the non welded side for a more flush fit (this will make more sense when you look at your tine assembly when you get yours home). Make sure to follow the instructions and go at a slow walking pace to give the aerator time to do it's job. Any faster and you might damage your new tool. We just used 2nd gear and slow engine speed and made many overlapping passes to aerate our lawn.1) Great quality heavy duty steel construction, made in America.2) Fairly easy to assemble.3) Solid good size tray for loading weight to adjust pressure/depth of aeration (instructions suggest concrete blocks or sand bags but we used plastic tote filled with water).4) Well designed hitch for attaching to garden tractor/riding lawnmower and includes the hitch pin with cotter pin.5) Solid tough wheels for moving aerator when not aerating soil (like moving over driveway)6) Tows well behind the mower, and follows well.7) Works equally well forward and reverse (we have a few difficult corners on our property and simply backed into/out of the tough spots)8) Included hardware seems high quality. Nylon locking nuts, heavy oversized nuts and bolts for wheels.9) All pieces were in the box.
