I tried this foaming cleaner on my outside coil that is a couple of years old. It seemed to do a decent job at loosening dirt, and even though it says no rinse, I did hose off the coils with a garden hose. I let the foam sit for an hour, then sprayed it again, waited another hour, then rinsed everything off. It seems to work, and when the coils are clean, the efficiency is restored and will start saving money.

Whenever my wife (the nose) starts to smell bad odors with the air conditioner running in her Tesla, I know it’s time to clean the condenser. The condenser is extremely hard to get to in the Tesla since it’s in the center of the car and accessed from the front passenger wheel well. I took off the spray cap and inserted a cap with a clear plastic hose attached to it so that it could access condenser. I then proceeded to spray the condenser unit, but unfortunately I couldn’t see the condenser due to it’s location and access. The fluid the drained from the bottom of the vehicle appears to be yellowish, but it didn’t have the dirt that other brands of coil cleaner that I use had. The scent is definitely lemony and is fairly strong. The nose (wife) could even smell it in the house. After doing the car, I had about 1/4 of the can left so I thought I’d see how it performed on one of our outside air conditioning units. I noticed that sometimes it would foam up a little and at other times it didn’t foam up at all. I took photos of the before, during and after (a day later) my spraying part of the condenser. There doesn’t seem to be much of a difference at all, but you can judge for yourself with the photos. Oh, I also shook the can before and during the spraying of the product.Overall I was not impressed with this product. The foaming action just wasn’t near as good as the other products I use. Ditto for the cleaning action, or lack thereof.

The foaming action was minimal. The product does not work. Do not waste your money or time. I end up having to rinse all of the chemical off and using a hose to clean the coils. All this product did was make a big mess.

This came in handy I had to clean the outside condenser on the AC unit, I took the outside cover off and shook the can good and then started spraying from the bottom up all the way around and let it sit for about 8 to10 minutes just make sure it doesn’t dry up on the coils, it started started foaming and a lot of dirt started to lift from the coils and I rinsed it from top to bottom, the coils looked shiny and coil shine flashlight through, the final steps I turned the power to the unit and the thermostat back on and it started up cooling much faster. It Works Good Product!

I used this foaming coil cleaner on a neglected 18 year old AC unit. I used it to clean the outside unit coils and on the air handler inside the garage. The outside units coils I suspect had never been cleaned and this did a valiant job in cutting through the crud. It took numerous applications and a little patience, but this unit had been severely neglected. The foaming helped lift the crud from the coil's fins, although it took several applications. It helped restore airflow and cooling to this 18 years old AC. It foamed well and did the job! Needless the say saved me the cost of a AC repair call and the AC is blowing cold! I would suspect you would have equally or better results on a less neglected unit. Dont' expect miracles if you don't do regular maintenance. I would definitely recommend adding this to your maintenance schedule to keep your AC clean and operational. The spray was direct enabling to shoot it back on the coils in the air handler. Overall, it is easy to spray on the coils and foams well. Take if from me do the maintenance frequently and don't let it get too bad. I am pleased how this worked on our poorly maintained system. My 18 year old unit is still working in the Florida heat!!

It's difficult to guess what specific level of grime this product and others like it are meant to remove. I don't think I've met a coil cleaner yet which can remove caked on debris that light cannot pass through. For periodic cleaning and upkeep of somewhat dusty coils, these products probably work fine. Anything more significant will probably still require disassembly and manual scrubbing.I used this twice on condenser coils and once on evaporator coils. I was wholly unimpressed by the foaming action during my first use, as it didn't seem to match my expectation set up by previous coil cleaners. However, my second use was much more in line with how I expect these products to perform. I'm not sure what I did differently, if anything, to produce these different results. So, maybe look out for inconsistent performance, but know that it can perform acceptably, in this regard. As for the actual cleaning, that feels more faith-based than anything else. I suppose it should be able to clean, at least to some degree, even if only by virtue of the foaming action.Interesting, at least to me, is that this product is currently retailing for practically double what other reputable brands are asking, and some of them even offer the utility of a cap with a built-in brush; which this item is missing. I'm not sure this Brody's Foaming Coil Cleaner is more than twice as good as those others, for the same sized container.Bottom line: Use this product for its exact intended purpose (probably light cleaning/upkeep) and don't overextend it, and you'll likely be satisfied. However, other options that are more pocketbook-friendly do exist.
