Bill Peet is a great children's author. My Grandson has quite a few of his books. They are easy to read and keep the kids engaged. I would not hesitate to buy a Bill Peet book.

A lot of children's literature today is a cesspool of dumbed-down drivel. This is why Bill Peet is such a refreshing read. Parents who really love their children should buy them books that don't treat them as idiots or bore them with inane plots and prose. Give them fresh air to breathe. Read Bill Peet!

This is easily one of my favorite Bill Peet books. The story of Buford the Little Big Horn is a story that appeals to all. All of Bill Peet's books have a lesson to be taught within the story. This is a story about hope and perseverance...and in these stressful, troubling times, it's a story that we can all enjoy reading. Buy it for yourself or buy it for someone you love. The bottom line is that it is a wonderful book that deserves more recognition than it gets, since the Bill Peet books are often overshadowed by more modern titles, but the quality of the story telling and illustrations is second to none.

While many of the books of my childhood have become best sellers and even movies, I find that most of my friends are not familiar with Buford. In other words, its a classic that you can feel fairly confident is not already on a child's bookcase. And what a great story! With a great sense of humor that allow adults to enjoy it just as much as their kids. And thank goodness they've kept the same great illustrations!

Buford the Little Bighorn, along with many other books, is one of my favorites. We have fourteen Bill Peet books in our library at home. The rhymes he thinks of are clever and funny. Buford the Little Bighorn is one of the stories he wrote that doesn't have rhymes, but it is still my favorite and has several great features. It has sophisticated language. It's not only a children's book, but for people of all ages. The character Buford is memorable, because he becomes a hero in the end. The townspeople love to watch him ski through the snow on his horns. The art and illustrations are fascinating in all of his books. I hope this book will become part of your library at home.

Bill Peet is one of my favorite kids book authors. I read these as a kid, got them for my kids, nieces and nephews and have put away a set for for my grandchildren someday. The stories and characters are always well designed and draw kids in. The illustrations are bright and colorful while still being somewhat simplistic giving them a lovable cartoon appearance. The stories have great moral and life lessons told in a fun way. These stories have stood the test of time and have been loved by many in my family

The book is a bit long for the younger kids, but the story is a good one. Imagine the small Big Horn as he works through being small, teased, and has giant horns. But when Buford takes to the ski slopes differences become positive and we all grow. A good story.

This is one of my all-time favorite books from my childhood. The story is charming and original, the writing is delightful, and the illustrations are so cute. I would absolutely recommend this to any child; I actually bought this one as a gift for a friend's baby shower.

I read all the Bill Peet books I could get my hands on to my children. I loved every single one of them. He was a wonderful illustrator and story-teller. I would have loved to have met this guy. Very cool.

Excellent throwback to my childhood! Like "Mog The Forgetful Cat" by Judith Kerr (I'm Japanese-American, born in 1973 in Seattle, to show you where, when, and how I grew up), I recalled reading a book about a ram named Buford. Specifically, a scene where other rams were helping him up a ledge. Well, thanks to the internet, I can now type in some key words, and more often than not, I get a hit! For a very affordable price, I bought this book, fascinated to re-visit it. It was very refreshing to see how Buford defeated the hunters, after all, "nobody roots for Goliath." And, I was reminded at the end, how Buford was EMBRACED by the skiiers who met him; they even had the ski resort build a special "lift" for Buford. But, you know what really added to it? I have become more fascinated with Canada, and recently traveled through Banff, Alberta. Well, this book referenced BANFF, as a place where people came from, to visit Buford! Just a wonderful return to my happy childhood days!

If you haven't discovered Bill Peet yet, you're really missing out. Someone recommended this book to me. The rhyming has a nice flow. Great vocabulary experience. Fun art by Mr. Peet who worked for Disney. My most wiggly, sometimes moody 2nd grade grandson read all the way thru, never lost interest and we both laughed. What more can you ask for?

This book was a favorite of my brother-in-law's so I bought it on his recommendation. My kids loved it!I thought it would be too long for my younger ones, but they enjoyed the pictures, and the action keeps everyone involved.I even took this book to read to my son's first grade class. The students paid attention the whole time I was reading. At the end they wanted to ask questions and talk about sweet Buford. It has a great message of helping others, putting others first, and looking on the bright side of things. What Buford thought of as an affliction turned out to be of great benefit (and fun!).
