This item worked perfectly. Very easy to install, works just as it is supposed too, and looks great, like it's always been there.

I had about the worst install experience you could have with this thing all because I didn't follow the instructions, but these guys still replaced the parts I broke for free. That's awesome for a product at this price. My story...I removed the stock handle bezel, and went to install the Bully lock. I have a bed cover and thus ignored the instructions' specific note to ensure that the tailgate is CLOSED when installing the lock. It didn't seem to matter, so I slapped on the new bezel and went for a drive. About a block later I feel/hear the tailgate fall open and look back to see the bezel lying in the street. As I was turning around I watched a bozo run over it. I though about yelling at him, but I didn't want to interrupt his important texting and just pulled over to close the tailgate. It turns out that having the tailgate closed ensures that the rods, etc. are all aligned for the locking mechanism to work correctly, and doing it my way (wrong) actually pinned the rods down to prevent them from latching correctly.Oh well, so I'll just remove the lock and inquire about getting another bezel. I grabbed my stock bezel and realized that despite the CLEAR instructions to be careful when removing it I broke the retention tabs. So now I'm stuck with no tailgate bezel at all. I just threw the lock back on (correctly this time), and gave Pilot a call about their bezel.Because I did such a magnificent job hosing this up their customer service guys took pity on me and are shipping me out another bezel free of charge. That's awesome customer service on a $20 part.In the end, the product is as good as you can really do on locking your tailgate. It's just a cheap way to keep an honest man honest. A real thief will find a way to steal the tailgate if they really want it, but this is cheap enough protection (or a little peace of mind that I tried).

I chose the Bully lock over the Pop & Lock for two reasons: Price and appearance. At $17 and a factory look it is hard to beat. I was a little apprehensive about this purchase after reading some of the reviews. But, I figured low $17 price made it worth the risk. Happily, the installation on my 2005 Silverado 2500HD was a snap and the lock works flawlessly. Fit and finish is as good as the OEM. While I am sure with enough force, somebody could probably get the tailgate open. My guess is that is the case with almost any tailgate lock. I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

I am very happy with the Bully Tailgate Lock! It has the exact look and feel as the OEM one with the added bonus of a locked tailgate. I first went with the McGard lock but it wouldn't fit for my truck. I had put this item in my wish list and noticed that the price had gone down to a really good price! So I decided to give it a try not expecting too much after reading the mixed reviews.I can happily say that it does exactly what it is supposed to do. Install was painless, only taking about 5-10 minutes. Note: If you have a bed liner like I do with only the top two screws showing, you will need to remove an extra screw or two from the liner to get to the lower third screw to install the lock. It actually comes with a regular screw and a security screw which is nice. I went with the regular one as it is covered by the liner anyway. The lock itself is of good quality with a smooth action. Unlike some others, there is no way to open the door when locked and it is very sturdy. I am glad I went with the Bully lock, if you are deciding between this one and the McGard, go with this one as you not only secure your tailgate but you also have the benefit of having the tailgate locked to secure what you are carrying, especially with a tonneau cover. Definitely recommend.

After looking at several different brands I chose this one based on its rating. Some liked it a lot and some didn't. I figured for the money it was worth the risk. I went out to my truck will all my tools ready for it to take an hour or so. After 5 minutes and only 2 tools later I was done. It went in perfectly. Everything fit like it was suppose to, everything looks like it's suppose and everything works like it's suppose to.I highly recommend this product as a quick, easy, affordable and high quality upgrade.

As others have said, this was relatively easy to install. The only problem as the unit is shipped is that for my truck the supplied screw that goes through the tailgate to secure the Bully lock was not long enough. There is a plate inside my tailgate into which the screw needed to go and the screw was about 1/4" too short. I was able to obtain one at the local hardware but since it is metric I was not able to get stainless there. I installed the lock when is was about 25 F. I was able to easily install the plastic trim piece by having it sitting in a bucket of warm water until installing it and it slipped right in without trouble.
