Great feeling, looking and mounting scope but past 20X I had a hard time focusing. I was better at identifying objects at 20X than zooming in more. I had it tripod mounted and played with the setting. Went right back into the box and sent back. just not happy stopping at 20X. If you aren't looking past 1000 yards then this will probably do just fine for you.

The image is large and the quality is fantastic. I really like the rough and fine tuning for the focus to get the image in tune quickly. At 20x it's easy to use even handheld and on a tripod the 60x will bring even very distant subjects up close. It comes with attached front and rear caps attached and the included case is very secure if not a little bulky. I appreciate that the tripod collar can be a foot when putting it down and can be rotated to move the eye piece off-center for more comfortable viewing. And the scope itself seems super sturdy and built like a tank. There are a few cons however. The with all this metal and glass, the scope is heavy at 3.5 lbs, you can use it handheld but it get tiring after a short while. Also, the tripod collar has a foot that looks like a quick release plate, but unfortunately it's not compatible with arca-swiss or any standard mount that other I could find, so you will need to screw onto the plate of your choice. Finally the middle zoom levels give a little bit of vignetting of the image, but both ends of the zoom range are full size and sharp. And neither a pro nor con is that this doesn't have any electronics in it, no image stabilization, focus assist, or range indicators. Overall, it's a beast of scope that will easily make tiny distant subjects feel as if they are large, clear and up-close.

I've been using a Vanguard spotting scope for a couple of years that was very similar in price to this unit (perhaps $50 less about 4 years ago). That Vanguard unit did not come with a hard shell case but it did come with a Cordura "jacket" that pads and completely covers the spotting scope when using it in the field, which is a really nice touch that would be good for the Bushnell to have included (not sure if they are available aftermarket). The hard shell case is really nice, and was an unexpected bonus when I received this scope. It has room for a very small tripod or monocular in the case, and it great for lugging the unit to and from the range or tossing Into the back of the Jeep for travel to hunting spots. In terms of performance, I find that the optics on this unit are much better than the Vanguard, with less color fringing and less barrel distortion at higher magnifications. Using it for 100 yard range work, I find that I can easily see bullet strikes from even a 17 HMR, and the fine focus is not so sensitive that it isn't easy to dial in and keep focused.I really like the way the mounting ring can slide around the barrel of the scope so that you can have it at an angle rather than only being able to sight down into it (with the eyepiece pointing upwards). When using it on a bench top at the range, its nice to lay it on its side so that it is right at eye level. My only complaint with the unit is that the tripod mount is NOT a standard 1/4" x 20 thread, so NONE of the tripod mounting plates I already own will work with it. I believe it must be 3/8" x 16, so I need to get an adapter, but then the quick-release shoe won't work properly, so I may have to just buy a Bushnell branded tripod so that it will work. This was a disappointment for me, but probably just due to the fact that my tripods are all camera/video tripods and not specific for hunting.

This thing will make people jealous. I could say something regarding making you aroused but this is a family site so I wont.I'm going to make this simple. 10 stars.Price - as good as or better than most.Weight - who cares, besides it comes with a awesome freaking semi-hard case and I have my bench tripod in there too.Looks - If you care, this is not for you, or is any of this for you. But, that little red ring sorta gives away what you're packin'. And you can give the onlookers that head up nod of acknowledgement you see them staring.Operation - Almost magical it's so smooth. Precise has a new definition. The Glass - Superb! I wear glasses. Very very expensive, higher end sport glasses (most of the cost is in the entire package, but the lenses, not their treatment, are half), and my point is, I want to look through this scope all day instead. It's that nice. Good, well, sharp, aberrations, bla bla bla..what I am saying is, this is nice to look through. You know, no eye adjustments needed kinda nice. I have other glass and it's not like this. All sorts of price points and types, and you will always appreciate better versions, of course, but it's nice not to break the bank to do it. This falls into this category. Being top end gear at a reasonable price.I can see any target I need to practice shooting at with any weapon I have, and just about any weapon anyone else might have that reaches farther than mine. This scope is a treasure and wen my grandsons grandson hands it down to his son, I will not be surprised at all.
