This definitely is a legitimate German-made filter and I'm very happy with it. I bought another B+W filter from Amazon some time ago and I'm almost certain it is fake, mainly because the box and internal plastic container don't look like the German versions. Although the filter looks very good, it doesn't screw on and off smoothly, which the real one does.Bottom line is, 'buyer beware'
