An older Dell server with 3.5" HDDs failed, but I had a slightly newer Dell server with 2.5" HDD setup. I used these cables to plug the 3.5" drives into the 2.5" server -- placing the drives on top of the server while I used them. They have been connected for over a month with 24/7 use. No problems, easy to connect, works well.

I recently purchased the "Cable Matters 2-Pack 22-Pin Power and Data SATA Extension Cable - 20 Inches" for use in my Dell R630 server machine, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. As a tech enthusiast and someone who frequently upgrades and maintains server hardware, I can confidently say that these cables have proven to be an outstanding addition to my toolkit.Packaging and First Impressions: The cables arrived promptly, securely packaged to prevent any damage during transit. Upon opening the box, I was pleased to find two neatly coiled cables, both showing no signs of wear or defects. The build quality was immediately apparent—both cables feel robust and flexible, able to withstand extensive handling without the fear of breaking or fraying.Installation and Compatibility: I bought these cables to extend the SATA connections from my Dell R630's motherboard to additional drives. The 20-inch length was ideal for the tight confines of the server chassis. Installation was a breeze; the connectors fit securely into the motherboard and SSDs, ensuring a snug fit without any wobbling or socket play. I appreciated that the cables were designed to be backward compatible, so I had no issues using them with both SATA I and SATA III drives.Performance: Once connected, the performance of the SATA data transfer was excellent. I was transferring large data sets and had zero issues with lag or disconnections—speed remained consistent throughout the process. The power supply was equally impressive; I connected multiple SSDs without any sign of power loss, demonstrating that these cables can effectively manage the demands of high-performance drives.Durability: One of my initial concerns was durability. Server environments can sometimes be unforgiving, with plenty of heat and vibration. Fortunately, after several weeks of use, these cables have held up remarkably well. The outer shielding appears to be well-made and resistant to wear. I also appreciate the flexibility of the cables, making them easy to route within the chassis without compromising airflow.Value for Money: For a two-pack of high-quality SATA extension cables, the price point is quite reasonable. Each cable offers reliability and performance that competes with many more expensive options on the market. Given the quality and functionality during my experience, I feel like I got more than my money's worth. Conclusion: In conclusion, the Cable Matters 2-Pack 22-Pin Power and Data SATA Extension Cable exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, build quality, and usability. Whether you're a casual user, a gamer, or an IT professional managing server environments, these extension cables are a solid choice for anyone needing additional reach for their SATA connections. I highly recommend them for anyone looking to optimize their server setup, especially if you're working with a Dell R630 like mine.If you're in the market for reliable, high-quality SATA extension cables, look no further than this excellent product from Cable Matters. Highly recommended!

I used this to move the terraonion mode ssd out of my sega saturn case for easier access. Works great, no issues using mode with a saturn with this extender! Games play the same just like the ssd being mounted internally.

This product works well for extending the SATA drive connections outside of the HP AIO so I can easily shutdown the computer and change drives. Had no issues on its functionality so far.

I was working on a project that required me to place the hard drive a little further away that the built-in cables would allow. Now I could have rigged up my own hand built extensions but I wanted something that was more self-contained and neater as the housing is small and airflow is important. Enter these cables. They were exactly what I was looking for. Not too short and not too long. They appear well made and both work as expected.

I bought this so i could connect harddrives that are installed in pc cases to an external usb adapter in order to run repairs and clones on the drives over usb without removing them from the computer. Also to be able to connect drives to an opened laptop drive bay without having to flip the laptop over. most extensions i have found are way to bulky for connections in to laptop drive bays and "toaster" style external drive adapters. with these, i was able to easily use an exacto knife to remove the outer rubber sleeve on the tight side of the port, and replace the removed section of sleeve with some PSV to cover the then exposed side of the power connection. they work great, are easy to modify like this, and have negligible speed loss (less than 5%, which could have been normal OS overhead during my tests) vs a drive directly connected to my uasp usb3 adapter. these are really well made and didnt "go to pieces" when i removed the part of the rubber sleeve i mentioned. these are a must for field drive maintenance techs.

Bought this to add a SATA SSD to an old Dell WYSE that I converted into an HTPC. This cable allows me to relocate the SSD to a different part of the extremely small case and away from the AMD oven at the center of the computer.
