would get 5 stars but they reversed the labels on the connectors. ;One other review stated that they labeled their connector wrong so I tried that and it worked. In is actually out and out is actually in.

Very good built, strong quality cables. Sadly it doesn't work with Yamaha-keyboards with sustain pedal; touching the pedal gives a loud E3 and continuous sustain. Without pedal, there's no problem.

My setup is an MPC One as a central sequencer and I wanted to connect a keyboard controller, control a MIDI pedal and sync a Circuit Rhythm. So my choice was to connect the keyboard and pedal to the MPC’s integrated MIDI ports and the Circuit with this cable interface so it could have in and out control. It works perfectly and in sync, the MPC recognizes it immediately and you can assign the MIDI inputs and outputs per channel without issue. The cable is more than long enough for me with a very premium build plus it’s nylon braided. The only small con is the the IN/OUT labels on the cable itself are just a small piece of tape that easily falls off, I just put a better label and that’s it.I haven’t used it with a computer so I can’t comment on that use case.I’ve purchased a number of cables and connectors from Cable Matters for years and everything still works perfectly. So when I saw this unit at a great price it was a no brainer.

Searched the internet to figure out why I wasn't able to connect my strymon guitar pedal with this midi cable. I made sure all the settings are correct. Sounds like i need midi interfaces with dedicated drivers and this is not it.

I've had success with buying from Cable Matters before, so when I was looking for a USB MIDI interface/cable, I thought I'd give theirs a shot, since it was much cheaper than some other alternatives (Roland, iConnectivity) and I had previous experience with them.I can confirm that it works for sending MIDI note information to a Korg Volca FM for the synth to play back, so that's good. Unfortunately, sending patch data to the FM via the cable doesn't work. The green LED on the cable's interface lights up, but the FM doesn't receive the patch data. I guess the cable doesn't support SysEx messaging, and that's needed to program the FM via computer. It's unfortunate that Cable Matters doesn't state upfront the lack of support for SysEx.If you only need to send or receive MIDI notes, this should work fine. If you know you'll need SysEx message capabilities, you'll most likely, and unfortunately, have to pay up for a more expensive MIDI interface. I'm giving the product four stars because, while it's lacking some functionality, when I bought it I didn't know I was going to want SysEx functionality and was mostly just planning on using it to send notes to my Volca FM, and it does do that, and for a very low price.

I am sure it is a fine budget interface, but I found it to be difficult to set up and never really got it to work reliably. I returned it and decided to use a named brand.

An extra note belonging to the piano chord would immediately play whenever I released a piano chord off of the keys. I tried on three different devices.

Took me a while to figure it out, but the MIDI IN and OUT are labelled backwards. I KNOW that the MIDI IN cable plugs into the MIDO OUT on the device. Contrary to that, I had to plug the OUT cable into the OUT on the device in order for this to work. Also, I have to unplug the USB from the computer frequently to wake the device back up. Still troubleshooting it, but wouldn't expect to have to do that normally.
