Being a real estate broker, I need to measure rooms and my previous measure device finally failed and I needed a new one ... but everything changes. I did not understand the instructions (my age maybe the problem) and could not understand how to make it work. When I sat down with the instruction booklet and put it into "steps" and taped it to the unit, then I finally got to understand how it worked and I love it! It was way more simple than I thought and you really do not need all the buttons after you set it the way you want the preferred settings (ie; feet/inches, measure from bottom or side, etc.)

Great product. Was able to accurately measure my basement in under a minute. Simply pointed the laser at the wall and hit the on button again and you get an instant read out of the distance. Pointed it at the other wall did the same thing and a readout with the square footage was given.

Handy little (emphasis on little!) gadget! Works exactly as advertised. I used it to measure inside and outside measurements for a 3600 square foot house (9 rooms, 5 bathrooms). Only needed a second person's help for a few measurements outside where there was no surface to "bounce off of". Turned what I figured would be a 4 or 5 hour project into about a one-hour project (most of my projects go the other way - I usually figure 1 hour and it turns into 3 or 4)..The 10-number memory was wonderful - I made a list of what 10 measurements I was hitting, then just shot them 1, 2 3... etc. Then I transcribed them from my shooter to my paper and cleared the list and did it again. All together, I shot over 150 measurements, and the laser was accurate to no more than 3/8 of an inch from the original reading to the duplicate reading when I went back and did them all a second time. The battery shows no sign of dimming, so that answers my question of how long the battery will last -- this is the biggest project I will ever do with this new wonder-tool!

This product absolutely false in quality and what it is supposed to do. I am a land surveyor and I bought this to help me measure buildings and various other things. It is inconsistent in its measurements. It has trouble measuring in direct sunlight so bad that it can be off in measurements up to 1'. I thought this as a quality product but I guess I'll have to see about something more on the professional level.

This is my first laser measuring tool so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. It's a pretty small device with a bit of a retro Star Wars look about it. The 2 AAA batteries are included so you are ready to go without having to secure some batteries. It also comes with its own carrycase. The belt clip on the back of the case has a Velcro fastener so you can quickly remove the case. The device itself is white with four buttons. The red on button activates the device and acts as a toggle for the laser pointer and taking measurements. I believe the red button is partly brightly colored for safety reasons because an active laser can be dangerous if fired into the eye for a prolonged length of time. The other three black buttons are mode toggles and finally reset/off button.Operation is simple. Select the mode you want to use: Distance, area or volume. Each mode, when selected, shows you empty fields. Pressing the red laser button turns on the laser pointer and a second press takes a measurement turning the laser off. Depending on your mode you may have to activate the laser up to three times to get the dimensions for your final calculation which will be displayed at the bottom.A quick press of the reset/off button resets the current calculation while holding down the button turns the device off.The Dimension Master works well. It is easy to aim and it only takes a moment to calculate the distance. I like that the laser turns off when the measurement is taken so you’re not likely to wave it around near your or someone else’s face when you read the calculations displayed on the screen.Accuracy seems to be good and very useful for estimating. Whether its area for rugs or flooring materials. Or approximate distances for working out what lumber you need, it's pretty handy. It seems to be pretty accurate but you’re not going to be using it for super precise measurements like for cutting. You will still need a tape measure for that. But it does save a lot of time and frustration when you are by yourself and want to take fast accurate measurements over long distances.Overall, this is a great little device that is almost ready to use out the box. Just insert the batteries provided and off you go.

Another well designed instrument from Calculated Industries. Works well, is accurate and the fractions of an inch are big enough to read. Plus they are back-lit so they can be read in low light. Its priced right and superior to a previously owned brand that I returned.
