this thing is made well and looks like it ought to last for a long while. Using with an AR leaves the butt off the gun feeling like it needs a little taller of a rest.

I recieved a combo Universal rear bag and Rock rest as a fathers day gift. I have to admit, I hinted at them.I am very pleased with the quality of these products. All materials and workmanship seem to be top-notch and the Rock rest earns it's name.As others might have mentioned, the Universal rear bag is not high enough. With any of my rifles properly mounted on the rests, the muzzle points at the sky. My simple solution was to cut a couple of pieces of 2"X6" to match the size of the base of the rear bag, connect them with screws from the bottom . Lastly, I painted them flat black. This riser gives me enough height at the rifle butt to create plenty of minus elevation adjustment at the front, if needed. Took about 15-20 minutes and even looks kinda cool. I can't figure why Caldwell sells these two items together. A higher bag is needed. Not a deal-breaker, by any means.Oh, well. I really, really like this set up, the rifle is gripped by the front ears and the rifle is rock-solid stable and won't budge when properly placed.

This rest works well under my rifles stock. Makes for a solid rest when firing from the bench.

Bought this and the Caldwell Rock Jr. Metal Front Rifle Rest at the same time and have only used the two of them together. The rear bag works well with the front rest. Using both the front rest and the rear bag, I have been able to shoot my AR style rifle and my M1A1 (M14 style rifle) with full size magazines (30rds and 20 rds), something I could not do with my old rest. The Caldwell products have greatly increased how steady the rifle is on the bench. Both bags came with more than enough filler in them. I removed a little filler from each bag. If you have never used a bag and a rest with a bag like me) have no fear these are worth the money and easy to use.

This bag seems to be very well made. After using it last weekend I can say it functions nicely as intended combined with a front bag or bi-pod.Also, it's very versatile in that you can turn it end for end of even 90 degrees to accommodate a variety of rifles and shooters. It can even be used as a pistol rest for longer barreled guns when turned 90 degrees and placed at the rear edge of the bench.I will likely get a second one.
