I've been on the hunt for a good waffle faced framing hammer for a while now and I've now had the opportunity to review this product. So far I like everything about it. This is the first Hammer I've used which has the magnetic nail holder on the end which makes setting nails much easier. The handle is well finished with a good grain pattern, and the wood and metal wedge on the top are well finished and set firmly. The waffle face is a boon and has greatly reduced the number of nails I've bent. Only time will tell if the handle holds up but as of right now I'm enjoying using this hammer never found great use out of it.

This is a fine hammer; the curved handle is a little unusual, and the magnetic nail holder on the head is convenient for starting a nail if precision isn’t an issue. One star removed for a very slippery handle. Problem solved by wrapping some friction tape around the handle. Without that, and particularly when wearing work gloves, this hammer seems almost dangerously slippery. Otherwise great.

The hammer's forged carbon steel head and ergonomic hickory handle combine strength and durability in a lightweight design. I put the hammer to the test repairing a wooden fence damaged during snow removal. The milled hammer face delivers accurate force, but I would employ a different tool for finished surfaces. My personal confidence in accuracy to avoid surface damage being the issue. I found the extended curved handle to be very comfortable, holding at the end or nearer the middle. Grip was not an issue as I wore appropriate gloves. However it may be helpful to sand the handle lightly to increase grip if gloves are not used. The magnetic nail holder is a particularly nice feature, allowing one handed setting with a bit of practice. The rip claw was very helpful in completing my task, pulling nails with relative ease. There is a quality made precision feel here. The secure attachment of the head to the handle prevents a failure point. This hammer should provide a long useful life.

I got this hammer for my husband who dabbles in carpentry and is forever fixing things around the house. It's great for really just about anything, and both he and I have been using it so much for all the home renovations we're doing. With this hammer's help, I've actually been redoing the baseboards in my home, and it's my favorite one to use. The handle is extremely comfortable, which has proved to be invaluable to me as it's taking what seems like an eternity for me to get everything just right. It's well made, too, and no matter how much we've used it it's in great shape. Also, the magnetic nail holder is quite handy, and it's not so heavy that it's cumbersome for me to use. It's absolutely functional and does the job, and I recommend it.

This is a smaller hammer, but for around $20 it's a great tool to have in the toolbag. I like to have this when I'm not needing a full toolbelt on bigger jobs. Lately I have been crawling into an attic only accessable through a small opening on the outside of the building around 15 feet up so it has been nice to have a smaller sized hammer while climbing in and out of the hole. Overall it feels well made and does what its built for.

Groove for nails:I really like this hammer. I tested it with a couple shorter nails such as roofing nails for shingles and noticed that the groove on the top of the hammer head makes it easy to start a nail without smashing your fingers. This is particularly useful when hammering in an area where you don't have to pre-align the nail to the exact position before hammering you put the nail on the hammer itself and use the hammer to start the nail. The nails don't have to be very long, just long enough for the nail to extend past the hammerhead from the metal notch in the hammer that stops the nail from moving up any further (1.25").Handle:The hooden handle looks to be of a good quality and the curve makes it easier to hold either towards the end of the hammer for a higher speed hit or midway down the handle for a more gentle hit. It also appears to have metal reinforcement holding the steel to the wooden handle. The length of the handle is also pretty nice as well, because you get a good amount of swing to it holding it at the end of the handle.Claw:At first when I tested hammering in a nail the nail was immediately hammered in all the way so that it was flat. While this was a good thing to hammer in so quickly, I originally did not want this for a test, because I wanted to leave a little sticking out to test pulling it out, but to my surprise it still wasn't very hard to get out with the claw so it seems to work very well.
