The sheath doesn’t fit but I just heated it with a hair dyer and stretched it. Love the axe it looks and works great

As the title says, I am a small stature light build woman, and I find that many of my tools are just slightly more difficult than necessary to use because of their size. I just deal with it because it's not a big deal and people my size are used to it (like when I, a left hander, use standard scissors or the offset-pour spout of our coffee pot). However, it is nice when something fits better, and this little axe does. The shape in your hand is pleasant, weighted well, and the joins of head to handle seem quite sound, extending into the wood to make one solid piece (this is very important for anything you swing--think about if you've ever used the hell out of a mallet and found that head coming loose). I stress that it SEEMS that way now, because I haven't had it/used it long enough to really test it into the ground, but my initial inspection expects that I will have this for years. The belt attachment is real leather, and it comes with a whetstone for sharpening. I would gift this bad boy if I didn't get it for my own use. I sincerely recommend it.

It's small but it splits logs like a champ. Just don't try to use it for much else. The quality is amazing. I know this will last a life time!

I do a good deal of splitting wood by hand. It's better than going to the gym for me. It also keeps my wife warm. As it is said, "happy warm wife, happy life!" Anyway, I use the expensive nordic maker mauls for splitting. I prefer the wood handles and the craftsmanship.With this THKFWD hand axe, I get that wood handle and craftsman feel that I love. The shape of this little axe's handle also makes a big difference in the power of what is really a short swing. I have a famous knife maker camping axe that has a straight composite material handle. It looks pretty tactical and has a knife stored in its handle. But that handle is straight and actually pretty unwieldy for more than a few chops. The THKFWD axe actually has some good power to it because of the precisely curved handle at the bottom.This axe is potentially a good survival tool as it can be used for light chopping, harvesting of pitch wood, and potentially even dressing out a harvested animal in a pinch if it is kept good and sharp. The round of the blade could be useful for skinning in a pinch. It does come with a very nice sharpening stone to keep it good and sharp.Really nice, I think.
