Skip the R100, get this instead. I used the R100 for 3 weeks, then got a great deal on the R50 and returned my R100... the R100 is great starter camera but I think you may outgrow it pretty quick. The R50 doesn't have this problem, it can do pretty much all the things the big boys can do but for a lot less. Plus you can get an Ef-Rf adapter and a ton of lens are available to you. BTW the R50 plus the RF50mm (nifty fifty) lens is so so good, just get it, it blows away the kit lens in every way.

The R50 is intuitive. It's designed in a way that doesn't intimidate beginners, offering a gentle learning curve. What genuinely stands out for me is its performance as a webcam for streaming. The quality difference between this and a standard webcam is significant. The setup was simple, and it instantly elevated the production value of my streams. The auto mode proves especially useful, automatically adjusting focus and lighting to ensure I always look my best on camera without needing to tweak settings constantly. It's compact, making it easy to integrate into my existing setup without clutter. For its price point, considering the substantial improvement in stream quality, the Canon EOS R50 has been an excellent investment. It's a top recommendation for those looking to upgrade their streaming visuals without getting bogged down by overly complex equipment.

I hemmed and hawed between this Canon and the Sony ZV E10. I must’ve had both in my cart for a week and did a ton of research. In the end I went with Canon because I’m more familiar with their cameras and menus than I am Sony and this is a newer model so hopefully a bit more future proofed than the Sony (8/21). Maybe that’s irrational but 3 years is a lifetime in technology and this is as much a tech tool as it is a camera.Coming from the full frame and features of the R5 is kind of painful but that’s the difference between a $500 body and a $2k body. The crop is slightly annoying but I can’t deduct a star since it’s just what’s available at this price point and there aren’t any full frames for this price.Comparisons to the R5 aside this is a great camera and shoots beautiful footage. I mostly use it for video and it performs exceptionally well. No problem hooking up any accessories to it. Had no issues with wireless lav mics or shotgun mic.Streaming is a breeze with it and it makes for a hell of a webcam if you do any type of vlog or podcast. Was able to get a lens adapter so I can use some EFS lens with it and no issues there. The lens adapter also reduces the crop so that’s a plus.Only wish it was fully supported by the firmware on my DJI RS3 mini but I think this is more a DJI issue than a canon one. You can control the shutter but that’s about it. Hopefully the DJI gods will send us an update soon. All in all no regrets. It’s no R5 but it gets the job done and I was able to get nice mics, lights, gimbal and a ton of accessories for less than the R5’s body.*I mostly use it for content creation which is a semi hobby / freelance.

Camera worked fine, was in great condition but the SD slot was broken when I got it. It wouldn’t secure my SD into the camera for me to close the lid which cause it to constantly pop up. Had to return it to get another one that works.
