Not usable as a compass to use while driving. A look at what is offered by multiple vendors I see the same issue, probably all made by the same vendor, do not waste your money

I was looking for a compass I could mount in my windshield and see while I’m driving. This isn’t it.The compass is enclosed in a half-opaque covering, so you can really only see it from directly overhead, if it’s mounted on a vertical surface, neither of which works for a car windshield.

I bought six of these. They were made in China. One was leaking out of the box if oriented a certain way, making the tray smell like WD-40. Not great, not terrible for the plastic. The rest had unsightly seam marks and could possibly leak as well but haven't yet. I would not place great weight on these. I was looking for smaller and more rugged ones, but this is all I could find at the time at this price point. One would think that flatter, smaller compasses with sturdier profiles using less metal and plastic would be cheaper to produce and more commonly found.

The suction will not stay on any surface and the ball does not move around in directions as you're driving
