How to use:
-First, place the piston ring correctly on the piston, put the ring compressor over the piston and tighten it with the hex wrench so that the ring fits snugly on the piston.
-Then, use the installer plier to hold the piston with piston ring, gently push it in against the cylinder port to make sure that the piston has even clearance with the cylinder wall.
-Finally, check the piston ring for distortion and damage to ensure that the piston can move smoothly in the cylinder.

This is a basic piston ring toool kit. It has some pliers to spread the compression rings so you can put them on the pistons without snapping them. It also has the plain jane squeezer to compress the rings into the piston grooves so you can tap the pinton into the cylinder block. I oil my piston before using this tool. The specs say it is for large diameter pistons so this would be better for big block engines.

Both the pliers and the ring compressor work well. Needed this to repair the engine on my experimental airplane and it did a great job. Having only used it once it is hard for me to say how well it would hold up to daily use but it is made from quality materials and seems well built. While I have been out of the industry for a couple decades I did have an ASE certificate in engine rebuilding and would have been happy to have this in my toolbox.
