I got this cat carrier for my little buddy in the picture, Schmoopy and her housemates! The carrier is quite pretty in the blue color. The carrier is well designed. The bottom insert features a removable, soft fleece cover that can easily be washed—this is a wonderful benefit in case your baby makes a mess while being transported. The material inside of the carrier itself is also hand washable.I love the multiple zippered openings. There are several ways to get your pet in and out, which makes it much easier to manage. Just a quick tip: when you first set it up, make sure all zippers are fully closed. You need to zip them up and down to align everything properly. Once that is done, your baby will be nice and secure inside once closed. The straps feel durable and strong and I have no concerns about their ability to hold up during travel. This carrier is the perfect size to fit under an airplane seat. I love the expandable top as it allows your pet to have more space to sit up or stand, and it allows them to look out.Overall, this is a fantastic carrier for both air travel and vet visits. Schmoopy (who made sure to "supervise" the unboxing process, as seen in the pictures) is already getting used to it, and I’m confident it will make traveling so more comfortable for her.

I got the blue one, and the color is true to the listing photo. It's a nice change from all the grey carriers I see. It did kind of stink like plastic at first, but after an hour the odor was gone.I've had to switch to soft side carriers for a couple reasons. One, it wastes too much time at the vet trying to undo all the screws to get the lid off when the cat won't come out the door, and two, sometimes the cat freaks out and pushes their face against the metal door so hard they injure themselves. So it's a safety issue for our cats as well as a better design. This opens up from the end or the top so you can get them out quickly; leaving more time for the actual checkup at the vet. And with the soft mesh, they don't hurt themselves. The zippers feel sturdy, which is good because we've had cats push through the zippers before. It feels sturdy enough that our 12 pound cat will be okay to carry. The bottom pad is removable, and can be used with the plush side up or the plain side up, depending on if you think your cat will get too hot or not. My cat thinks it's his new cat bed, so I guess the plush side is plenty comfy.I like that this has the slip over thing that lets you slide it over a suitcase handle; it's also a great place to run the seatbelt through in the car. At $56 (at the time of writing) it's pricier than other carriers, but comparable to others that are airlines approved.

Clearly, I don't read descriptions of items I am getting well enough because this carrier far exceeded my expectations of your typical pet carrier. Now that I'm reviewing this I have read the description again. Everything they advertise about this pet carrier is totally accurate (well, full disclosure I have not done airline travel with this nor do I intend to so I can't speak to whether it's truly airline approved). It's a soft sided carrier with mesh on two sides and the top for breathability for your pet. It has a detachable shoulder strap, hand held straps and a strap that you can attach to your wheeled luggage so you can place it on top of your wheeled bag and have one less thing to carry. It has a side opening and top opening which is larger to get your pet inside. The top can even pop up for more room for your pet. The "floor" of the carrier has a sturdy insert that has fleece on one side which seems great for a cat or use the flip side which doesn't have fleece so it's not as warm if your pet gets hot. That cover is machine washable which is great after repeated uses.I got this because I have two kittens and only one carrier that was getting small for both of them together. This carrier is big enough that I can put both of them in comfortably. They are five and a half months and about 4-5 lbs each. I could see this fitting a small dog with ample room for them to feel comfortable. It would probably be a great way to keep a small dog or cat feeling safe on a long car ride. You could easily strap it in with a seatbelt too. The final great thing about this is that it collapses down easily and doesn't take up much space once collapsed. Seems expensive, but it's worth it in my opinion.
