This is well designed and packed well. Easy to put together but only screw the screws until they resist. Too much tightening is likely to result in a screw spinning around in the cardboard. Everything fits together just right and it looks good. I find it attractive and love that it has two basic positions for scratching and stretching.I got this to replace an old haggard one that got used to bits and I haven't found that design again. That one's in the last pic. This one is light and easy to move around. It didn't get used in the first few days so I put catnip in it and one of my cats picked out the catnip. It does have a slight odor I can't place but doesn't smell like other cardboard - like what is was shipped in. Maybe that will fade. Meanwhile I plan to do the catnip thing a few more times.One of my cats likes to scrunch under it when I'm doing things nearby. She also played with one of the balls - they do have little bells in them. I also noticed that toys got placed near it. I didn't do that. I feel sure that they will ultimately use this and I think it's that subtle odor.I think the size is great, the color of the frame, the balls inside, the two basic positions (you can get creative, right?) and the fact that a cat can lay under it make it multipurpose. I'd give this a 9 out of 10 but that odor thing does get a ding. So four stars and I seriously hope this ends up working out.

It's a constant challenge to find scratchers that my kittens will actually use, but I am thrilled that they seem to genuinely like this one! They love playing with the little balls, and it's tall enough that they can stretch up to scratch.It wasn't too hard to put together--even though the instructions weren't very clear and none of the parts were labeled, I was able to figure it out by looking at pictures of the assembled scratcher and lining up the panel and cardboard shapes. Once you figure out which piece goes where, actually screwing it together it very quick and easy.The materials leave something to be desired, and this is why I'm taking a star off of my review. The "wood" edge pieces look nice on the outside, but on the inside they are clearly a cardboard/pressboard sort of material which is not very sturdy. Additionally, the screws are not flat, they're tapered on the top, which means that they do not screw down flat and always poke out a bit! Luckily my cats have not gotten caught on it yet, but it does concern me.The one other thing to be aware of is that due to the shape, if your cats try to scratch on the back of it (not sitting on the shorter part while they scratch) they might topple it over onto themselves. In other configurations it's pretty stable, but depending on how they come at it it might fall over and scare them, which really freaks out my kittens every time it happens.

This has three cardboard parts which you must attach together with two pieces of wood and some screws. Two balls are included to go inside two races between the cardboard parts. The instructions say one is bell ball and one is a catnip ball, but in my case both were bell balls.The shape allows you to use it in several different orientations: vertical, horizontal, or angled. Unfortunately the cardboard parts are not symmetric, so if your cats prefer one orientation, and wear out the cardboard on one side, you can't flip the cardboard over to expose the other side instead.You have to get the alignment right, or the balls won't move properly in the races. There are no indications of how you should align the cardboard (for example, there are no markings where the screws should go), so you need to eyeball it and hopefully get it right so everything looks good and works properly. It might be better if you start with the flat piece first; I started with the curved piece and ended up having to have the cardboard stick out a few millimeters past the end of the wood on the other end to have the balls move smoothly.The twenty (yes 20!) screws holding it together look like drywall screws, and a small Phillips screwdriver is included in case you don't have one. Unfortunately the heads of the screws are designed for counter-sunk holes, but the wood won't allow that, so they stick out a bit and can get caught on things.It seems like a good idea, but none of our 6 cats seem to use it much for scratching. However, one thinks it's her new bed so she sleeps on it a lot. Silly cats; I can't fault the scratching board for their behavior. But I would expect this to be a little better designed or a little cheaper to be worth it.

Recently got this Viraagyiyou Cat Scratcher, and my picky cat took to it immediately. Now it’s her go-to spot for stretching, and sharpening her claws. The vertical design is good, because it mimics the natural scratching motion cats use on furniture (which, thankfully, she no longer destroys!). The size is perfect, offering plenty of space for her to scratch, and the L-shape allows for multiple setup options, whether mounted on the wall or just placed on the floor.The durability seems good, so far so good, in fact,it's held up well against daily use without showing signs of wear too quickly. The sisal material feels sturdy, and I can tell it’ll last a while before needing a replacement. Mounting it to the wall was also pretty simple, and it stays in place even when my cat goes at it with full force. I also love how sleek and minimal it looks, blending into my space much better than those bulky cat towers.If you have a cat that loves to scratch (and let’s be real, all cats do), this is a great choice. It saves your furniture, gives your cat a proper outlet for their scratching instincts, and looks good in the home.
