Our old switch chain broke and we didn't want to buy a new fan. After trying a number of different switch types that didn't work, we bought this one since this one was the most comparable one to our old one. The biggest problem we had is that they refer to "upper wafer" and "lower wafer". That's great, but that would depend on the way you hold it. Is that orientated with the black side up or down? The pictures with the descriptions show both ways. They should have said "middle wafer" and "outer wafer". One reviewer was helpful with understanding what they meant about the L 2-3, L 3-1, L 1-2, but not knowing which was the "upper wafer", it really didn't help. We initially wired it exactly as our old one was wired, and it didn't work. It is so hard to pull the wires out working overhead, even with inserting a screwdriver into the slot, to keep trying the different wiring. We also didn't want to have to solder the ends of the wires so that was even harder to have to keeping reinserting the wires. After a few times trying different things, we finally got the fan to work again. We inserted all the wires into the outer wafer. BUT, something must be wrong because we only have 2 speeds, medium and slow, and OFF. At this point, we are just happy to have the fan working again. We will probably try again further down the road after we recuperate from this ordeal.

Bought to replace my old switch where the pull chain broke inside. There were not too many options available given the age of my ceiling fan. This switch has done the trick so far. Im not sure the quality is up there but time will tell. I don't think the switch mechanism is as smooth as it should be.

Needs instructions, does not always hold wires securely , my switch broke and I was not able to use it, could cause a safety hazard,Very disappointed

Great product, read all the information before I ordered, but it still was not what I needed. Ended up buying a new ceiling fan, it was just a lot easier.

this was so easy to install a kid can do it so I found a kid to install it he kind of got shocked and then set the house on fire. But the fan works now.
