I was looking for a bit similar to the Derby bit, but with a dog bone instead of the two links. While the brass pieces aren't as slim as the Derby, it has a similar hinge. My horse immediately accepted the Challenger and is responding very well.

Seems to be good so far. Both my mares like it! They are quiet with it and no fuss. Unfortunately, I cannot give it five stars because it seems the coating may not be the best. I clean my bits after each ride. This one seems to have small rust spots on it already (not on mouthpiece but on one of the rotating pieces on the D). Like the plating wasn't applied well. I really wish companies would use all stainless and then copper where deemed fit. We shall see how long it lasts.

I ordered 1 of these and 5 egg butt versions. The egg butts have all jammed and nothing has worked to fix them, but the D ring version has held up just fine.

My horse has wide mouth so bits need to be 5.5 inches to fit him. This bit comes in many sizes. And my horses like the dogbone (split in 2 spots). Seems less severe than regular snaffle. I very happy with them. They also can pinch tissue in the corners of the mouth like regular o-ring snaffles.

I liked the quality of the bit. It was as anticipated however, it is pretty heavy and thick for my mini. Probably fine for a substantial pony.

Bit seems to be decent, but the Dee bit is TINY for a 5.5” bit. It is half the size of my other Ds.
