The play in the cutting handle and gap for the wire makes getting even, thin cuts nearly impossible. However, it functions mostly as expected and I used it quite often for four months when the wire broke. The wire comes with replacements; however, after several attempts, I haven't been able to replace it. I see how it works but it's not easy. One end keeps popping out when I think it's in place and start to tighten it. Frustrating for an old man with fat fingers, like myself. It might be worth it to you, if you're reading this review, to spend a few more dollars for something sturdier with a more precision cut and less maintenance. I'll get this one fixed eventually, I think. If I can get that danged wire back in, it's better than a knife for cutting block cheese.

The product works pretty well. It cuts thicker slices of cheese really well. I prefer thinner slices, and it tends to rip the cheese off the block instead of cutting it cleanly. It's easy to clean and comes with several extra cutting wires.

The wire grinds against the metal no matter how you use it. Very disappointed, and I would not recommend to anybody unless they want metal in their cheese.

The unit is well made. There is an art to making good slices that I will need to practice. I like this better than the drag wire cutters. This takes little effort and the wire will not slip.
