Worked to reface a frizzen. Good surface hardening. As stated on the product, be warned that this stuff smells pretty strongly when using. Need ventilation or good air circulation. For it's intended purpose, I was satisfied.

Used it to case harden a sprocket machined from 1020. Simple process. Made the sprocket glass hard.

Received one pound of metal hardener. It was packaged in a plastic container with a sealed wrapping so it would not spill.NOW, the good part. This such worked really well to put a case hardening on a soft metal frizzen. My smoothbore sparks like a bic lighter now.

Works very well and is easy to use, especially for smaller parts. Just heat the part to be treated using a torch until the part is cherry red and then dip the part in the material. Scrape off the excess and then re-heat to cherry red and dunk in water or motor oil. Definitely hardens surfaces, even on 12L14 (low carbon, high lead) steel.

It works, but it is overpriced.
