CineStill film is the amazing technology of motion picture film, prepped and rolled for still photography. CineStill 800Tungsten is a unique film for still photographers. This 800 speed tungsten balanced color negative film is prepared from the same motion picture film stock used by top cinematographers around the world. This film is designed for difficult low light tungsten situations and may be used in many different lighting situations to achieve a variety of looks. CineStill's rem-jet "Removal" makes this motion picture ( ECN2) film safe to process in standard C-41 photo lab machines or at home and the results are beyond that of any other films available to photographers. This emulsion is optimized for a hybrid workflow, ideal for scanning. Treat this film as a high speed 800 ISO film when processing in C-41 and push process whenever needed up to 3200 ISO. CineStill film is ideal for use with tungsten/incandescent light, fluorescent light and tungsten light mixed with either fluorescent or limited daylight. Recommended ISO and acceptable exposure for push processing: ISO 800 - No push - EI 200-1600 ISO 1250 - 1 stop push - EI 800-2000 ISO 1600 - 2 stop push - EI 1250-3200 ISO 3200 - 3 stop push - EI 1600-3200 (added contrast)

A very nice film, that is great for evening, but the tones can be very blue to the point of being unnatural and not versatile in some settings. Personally I prefer Kodak.

I’ve been using CineStill 800Tungsten for a while now, and it’s become my go-to film for shooting in low-light or nighttime conditions. The results are stunning, especially when it comes to capturing mood and color in dark settings.Pros:Excellent for Night Photography: This film really shines when you’re shooting in low light. The high ISO of 800 is perfect for night scenes, and it captures incredible detail even in dimly lit environments. The grain is minimal for such a high-speed film, which is a huge plus.Gorgeous Colors: I love the way this film handles colors at night. The tones are rich and cinematic, giving a unique and beautiful look to night shots. Neon lights and street lamps look especially great, and the colors pop in a way that digital cameras just can’t replicate.Tungsten Balance: The tungsten balance is perfect for indoor and artificial lighting, making skin tones look natural and colors balanced when shooting under certain types of lighting at night.Cons:Daytime Use: If you’re shooting in daylight, be prepared for a noticeable blue tint to your images. It’s designed for tungsten light, so it’s not ideal for daylight without a proper filter. You can still get some cool results in the day, but they’ll definitely have that strong blue cast unless you correct it.Pricey: It’s not the cheapest film out there, but for night or low-light photography, it’s definitely worth the cost. You’re paying for a very specific use, and it delivers on that.Final Thoughts: CineStill 800Tungsten is an incredible choice if you love shooting in the dark or under artificial light. The colors are vibrant, and the overall mood of the photos is unbeatable. Just keep in mind that it’s not great for daytime shooting without filters. If you’re looking for that classic cinematic night-time feel, though, this film is a must-have!

I took this on an international trip to film some night city-scape photography. The pictures came out clear and focused on lights very well.

I’ve really enjoyed this film, especially for night street style shots with neon and interesting lighting. Makes for a really cool vibe.

The highlight color developes a special red especial at night. Even as daylight it's still pretty good.
