Step 1: Place the dashed line of the desired CUT size on the seam line of an unpressed half-square triangle.
Step 2: With the rotary cutter, trim the two sides of the half square triangle.
Step 3: Keep the trimmer in place. Trim the dog ears using the edge slots on each side that align with the chosen size. Trimming is now complete.

I finally broke down and bought these squaring rulers. Has saved me so much time as to using a regular square measure ruler. And better accuracy. I should have bought along time ago. I also purchased the 1/4 inch tool that comes separately.

Because the item is made of acrylic and has multiple sub-cuts, it arrived with one cut made too deeply and was only being held together by the paper backing. I reported this on the day I received the item & received a replacement within days; even before I could get to make the drop-off return. Very pleased with this company. I had a 2nd order received a few days later and had no incidents.
