I use the item once and I had no problem. The second time I go to use it within 30 seconds of the router being on I noticed, my router was digging into the wood and jumping. I stopped at let it slow down and I noticed the bearing and the bearing lock ring have come loose and the bearing lock ring screw that is recessed in is missing. It must’ve went flying. Now I have ruined my piece of wood and I’m out a bit, this should never have happened on the second use

I needed a flush cutting pattern bit to make a copy my Festool MFT top. (The MFT top has a series of precise 20mm holes and my existing top was going to be used as the pattern)In the past I had used a Freud bit which worked fine but I was making a new top so I decided to purchase a new bit. However, the CMT bit is slightly undersized compared to the bearing by about .005" which is enough so that my metal dogs will not fit into the holes. This usually would not be a problem with most patterns but in my case it would not workI also tried the Amana and Whiteside bit - same thing. (Whiteside says they deliberately undersize the bit so that it will not cut into the pattern)I ended up buying another Freud bit - and it is exact - the bearing diameter matches the bit diameterSo if your looking for an exact 1/2" flush cutting pattern bit - buy the Freud

The cutter seems to dull rather quickly. Also, the guide bearing will move around if you don't verify the tightness of the locking ring. Mine was shipped with it loose and almost cost me my workpiece. It isn't all bad. You just have to take it a little slower than normal.

I ordered this Router bit to cut out some doors for my bulk head on my boat. Once we got them aligned, we set the router to the appropriate length. We drilled a hole, and started to make our cuts. Great bit for our use.

I have several(30+) CMT bits and have had no problems with any of them. They seems to cut flawlessly and have lasted years. The only bits that I own.
