Decent handle grain for an online purchase - tight, and no more than a few degrees off. Head is quite well-forged, with the exception of a chip on one edge. Sharpness is decent - light filing and honing was all it took to polish to my liking.There is a clear coating on the head, which I removed with brake cleaner. There are also large stickers on the head and handle, which were easily peeled, and the residue easily removed with brake cleaner. I treated the handle with a coating of canola oil, which brought out the grain beautifully.Haft is thick - one could sand it to their liking.Overall, a solid and good-looking double bit axe for $40 and free shipping, arriving in just two days after purchase.
