Love this mic so far. It is very well built, but still light. It sounds great and has little noise. Directionality is as expected for a super cardioid and this mic will work with phantom or battery power. It has a native XLR connector, but also comes with an adapter to 3mm. The case it comes in is lightweight and strong, has a spot for everything you need and fits perfectly. This is a very nice sounding mic and compares favorable to the industry standard MKE600 at a much lower price. Great for small film makers or one man band interview shoots where the client isnt concerned with the make and model of all your gear, but only wants great results. One thing to note is that this VP3 is a refresh of a previous version. I dont know what is different but that one had been referred to as CVM-VP3 and this is just a VP3. The mics look different with the previous version having a few LEDs on the shaft of the mic. I havent used that one, so I cant compare, but can say that this mic is totally solid so far.

I got this microphone to integrate into my recording rig and have it hooked up to a small mixer. I chose this, as I have a Comica shotgun mic I use in my photo bag and it's been great; I really liked the build quality and the pickup and audio quality is excellent as well. This is a very similar design, it's just powered differently and seemed more like it's designed for a more permanent installation. Build quality of this microphone is excellent as well, it's pretty much all metal that's nicely machined, it looks nice, and the mount is very solid. Installation was very easy once I decided where to mount it and took maybe a minute including the magic arm I used. I like how it has both 48V phantom power and can be run off a AA battery, although I have mine wired in using the XLR connector. The carrying case it comes with is pretty great, it's a hard shell case similar to a Pelican and already has cutouts in the foam for the mic. It's a really nice bonus and makes it easy to store or transport. Audio quality is excellent, there's very minimal noise, it picks up what I want it to pick up and voices sound great. I really don't have any complaints with the mic, it integrated really well into my setup and has been working wonderfully so far.

I need to do more work with this before I'm ready to really comment on the audio quality, but I will say for my few tests it seems to be work very well. I shot a few test videos around my home and the audio quality came our really nice.The build quality of this mic is really nice. Very solid build. I appreciate how well this is packaged. It comes with a solid carrying case and all the accessories needed to start using this right out of the box. (Except for a AA battery.) I was able to put in on my Fuji camera and start shooting right away.Happy to give this one 5 out of 5 stars!

Wow. I have never received a shotgun mic in a hurricane case before! It has custom foam cutouts for the windscreen, mic, holder and adapter cable… it feels like luxury!Not only that, but this mic is fantastic. It rivals the Sennheiser MKE600 in size and quality, but it’s about $100 less (and includes the super sturdy case.) Takes a singular AA battery to operate. Also runs on phantom power. The sound is crisp and clean, both with and without the low cut active. I am seriously considering purchasing these in the future over sennheiser for my crews to save money and give them a nice storage solution.
