It will stay in place but will spin if there’s any pressure.

I have had some Renthal fat bars laying around that I didn't want to use because they are 760mm so I ordered these bar extenders hoping they would work and they are perfect and Solid. Some people in the reviews said they had problems with them spinning and not wanting to tighten down but mine worked great.

It would be great if they came in a couple of lengths, but these are just enough to give my big hands a little more room on the handlebars. There is not enough depth to attach a bar end mirror into the ends, so I made a slight modification. I tapped the inside of the hollow screw for a 1/4-20 thread. Now I can screw my bar end mirror into the adapter. Perfect.

These looked like a decent lightweight solution to adding some Onza barends onto my retro rebuild of a GT LTS with an Answer Pro Taper carbon riser bar, even moreso because ControlTech makes other outstanding products. Getting the barends onto these extensions was relatively easy after some “coaxing” with a flathead screwdriver and gratuitous use of some choice four-lettered “sentence enhancer” combinations. However, despite the use of Finish Line carbon paste, I could not get these bar extensions to stay securely in place, even when cranked outward as tightly as I could possibly make them. I even tried inverting the nut which, when tightened, pushes the c-shaped knurled pieces that make contact with the inside of the handlebar outwards so that I’d get more outward force applied inside the bars when tightened. Even that option failed to firmly hold them in place and they still rotated under the slightest downward pressure on the barends. Moreso, under normal/ full body weight whilst cranking side-to-side on an uphill, they were all but COMPLETELY useless.I had these delivered to me overseas as I could not find these anywhere locally. I found some knock-off versions, but opted against purchasing those. Being that I received them in a “good amount of time” (thanks, COVID-19, you bastard of a virus!), I did not have the option to return them, so I am stuck with some $30+ parts (overseas Amazon s/h along with some other bike parts) that I cannot use. And, being that barends are not as common as they used to be, or are already built-in to many grips, I cannot even sell them, much less give them away. They are of OUTSTANDING QUALITY but sadly, just don’t work as they were intended. I do not recommend this product at all, unless you plan to assemble a garage queen of an MTB that will not see any real trail nor road use. If that’s the case, then these will work just fine holding your barends onto your display piece. Otherwise, NO GO.I ended up buying a NOS set of ONZA handle bar extenders off of eBay which work PERFECTLY, since the part which inserts into the handlebar is AT LEAST 4-5 times longer than these ControlTech counterparts. This enables the outward force of the more heavily knurled surface, which makes contact with the inside of the handlebar, to be spread out more evenly and over a longer/wider area inside of the handlebar which, in turn, doesn’t make me feel as if I’m going to fracture the carbon fiber from within just like these ControlTech ones did.

I bought these to extend a 760mm handlebar into a 780mm handlebar and then put my grips back on as usual (would need to cut each of these down by 10mm).However, there's a serious design flaw and I don't understand how other reviewers got these to work without heavy modification...The bolt that is supposed to turn inside the nut (pulling the nut closer and thereby pushing the knurled pieces out against the inside of the handlebar)--that bolt turns the nut with it, so the knurled pieces don't move and the product doesn't tighten against the inside of your handlebars. And why would it? The nut meets less resistance by simply turning with the bolt, than by staying put while the bolt turns inside it and the knurled pieces slide along it.I fixed this by (1) vertically scoring the outside of the nut to give the knurled pieces something to slide up, while also preventing the nut from spinning inside them and (2) greasing the bolt to give it an incentive to spin independently in the nut.Other than this design flaw which literally makes them useless without modification, their fit and finish is very nice. If you're not able to make modifications to this then it's a nice looking paperweight so I don't recommend it, unless your papers are constantly flying around the room.

My answer to extending my MTB bars another 20mm (in theory you could daisy chain these to get 40mm total). My expensive carbon bars weren’t wide enough and didn’t feel like spending another $200. Added theses for a fraction of a price. Easy to install and very secure. Your existing grip will secure it further.
