I used this thermometer in my residential freezer when I began to suspect that it wasn't cooling properly. I simply inserted the probe into the freezer and let the face of the thermometer hang outside the freezer, held in place by the door gasket closing on the probe wire. It worked perfectly for that purpose, and I confirmed that the freezer was failing.I later verified the accuracy of the thermometer using an electronic temperature controller that I have for other purposes and determined that this thermometer is calibrated perfectly. I now have a new freezer, and although it doesn't necessarily need a separate external thermometer, I will install this on one side just as an extra layer of safety to warn me of any failures in the future.

This review is for the Uharbour Cooler Thermometer Commercial Freezer Thermometer Capillary Design Refrigeration Gauge, Range -40 to 65 ℉ / -40 to 20℃, 2" Dial Stainless Steel Flanged Panel Mount. The Uharbour is almost everything I wanted in a thermometer for my chest freezer. I had been using a battery powered remote thermometer, which was fine except the batteries lasted about two weeks.I never would have thought a remote reading analog thermometer would work so well. The readings match my other thermometers, and the Uharbour dial is easy to read. Much easier than a dim liquid crystal display. My only problem -- not a complaint -- is that there is no good method I have found for mounting the Uharbour case to the outside of my chest freezer. The thermometer case is designed for flange mounting. The Uharbour sits on top of the freezer well enough, but then when the freezer lid is opened the thermometer goes flying.Currently I have the unit sitting inside a freezer mitt, hanging on the side of the freezer from a magnetic hook. Not ideal. I tried magnetic tape. That did not work at all. I have another kind of magnetic hook on its way from Amazon. But if you can find a way to mount the Uharbour, I highly recommend it as a replacement for battery eating digital thermometers.Five stars.

My freezer was having problems sometimes not achieving freezing temperatures, but I had no way of knowing what temperature it actually was inside. So I got this to help gauge it more precisely than eyeballing possibly defrosting meat. It works perfectly. As the freezer declined, I could see the temperature falling to 40 degrees (as well as things defrosting inside). I bought a replacement freezer and transferred this thermometer to that, periodically checking it as it achieved freezing temperatures. I set the freezer to 0 degrees and put the food inside. That evening, the thermometer hovered around 20 degrees as the food gradually froze. The next morning, the food was frozen solid and the thermometer showed -2 degrees. I'd say this thermometer is pretty accurate to within a couple degrees.I did not try to mount this anywhere. I just set it still coiled up in a door shelf.

I have two chest freezers. I haven't mounted this yet, but I've been able to easily place the probe into the freezers individually and discovered they're 10 degrees different at the same temperature setting - identical freezers. Good to know! I think I'll continue to use this unmounted for now - refrigerator (both sides) is next...

This thermometer is being used in a non-commercial freezer but it’s very accurate! The wired probe allows flexible location placement in the freezer. The temperature matches a digital thermometer at same location. Easy to read.

I have been using this as a probe to monitor appliances in-repair while they are being monitored for consistency; I'm quite happy with this so far.Probe responds very quickly to changes in temperature; Nice sensor.

It's good to know what the temperature of your freezer is. I want to know, but this won't tell me. When I took it out of the box I knew there was a problem (see first pic). The gauge was reading well below -40F, and it was room temperature. I wanted to 'test' it anyway, and after many hours in the freezer it was the same reading: well below -40F.Maybe next time.
